The Post and elections will take place during the April s and in May, Installations will take place. Please support the officers and committees, which will be coordinating your organization for the coming year. Earlier this year, a car crashed into our sign in front of the building. The damage was so extensive we need to replace the entire sign. The new digital sign, it is hoped will be in place for many of the upcoming events. The month of May is our 7th Annual Drive through Chiavetta s BBQ Chicken dinner 4-7, May 2nd, 16th, & 30th. Take dinner home and never get out of your car. Pre sale tickets will be available each week. The Post s Annual Buddy Poppy Drive will be May 24th - 26th. Your help for an hour is needed. All of the funds received, stay in our local area to help Veterans and their families. -Continued on Page 3 Officer Elections will be held at April s. Join us to have your voice heard!

Message from the Well, March has been neither a lion nor a lamb, But I am hopeful for Spring as the robins are back and the birds are happily ripping apart the remnants of gardens that didn t get cleaned up before winter. I suppose, for the birds it was a good thing but perhaps they will stay in our yards and eat bugs that also like to enjoy the yard. It would be a win-win! Positivity is a beautiful thing! As we move into spring the has sponsored several events that will contribute to helping our veterans and their families. Soup night in January was great with many varieties to choose as several new soups were offered. March was also a busy month with a successful Corned Beef and cabbage dinner and two fish fries. In the coming months, there are events that members should be aware of and help if available. Post clean-up is scheduled for April 28 th. We need help both outside and inside to get the grounds ready for a busy summer. The Buddy Poppy drive is scheduled for May 24-26. As always, we need help to staff all the locations and inform the public what the Poppies represent as we distribute them. In June, the Erie County Council of VFW usually meets at the Post and the provides food for the meeting. Once again, help is always welcome. REMINDER: April is election month. We are holding elections for officers on April 17 th. Anyone wishing to hold office please come to the April meeting for nomination and election. Erie County Council convention is May 12 th at Crosby Post in Kenmore. Anyone planning on attending, please register and make lunch reservations. District 6 convention is May 19 th in Salamanca. The scholarship, in memory of Liane Dahlberg, will be presented. The 4th of Committee is hard at work with arrangements for our big day. This event is the largest event the Post has each year. The committee is asking everyone to help us for 1-2 hours on the 4th. If each member does this, we will have a very successful year. Around the Department, April 5th-8th is the MOC/MOCA annual convention in Little Falls, NY. April 25-27th is the VFW Spring Conference in Albany, NY. Deadlines for Reports to the Department are May 2, 2018. I need the community Service reports from everyone by 20 of April. Our membership as of the middle of March is only 20 members short for 100%. If you are an annual member, please consider upgrading your membership to Life. This can be done in 12 monthly payments. See Quartermaster Rich Lozo or myself for details. If your dues are due please renew promptly. Each annual member receives at least 3 notices and many receive 6 renewal notices. Commander Dan McMahon 716-622-6911 dbm021@yahoo.com 3 rd Annual Flags on the Boulevard Never forget our Fallen For Memorial Day, May 28, Large Flags will be placed in Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial, intersection of Grand Island Boulevard and Baseline Road, and flown for 1 week in Memory and Honor of those who have given their lives for our country. The Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post 9249 is sponsoring this event to raise money for veterans and the Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial Project expansion. These flags will be placed with donations of $50 each. Would you please sponsor one of these flags? Outer edge flags can be sponsored at $100 each and have a Sponsor s sign (27 x 18 ) with it. We had 36 sponsors last year and would like 100 flags to be placed at the Memorial. Please help us reach our goal! Proceeds will go to VFW Post 9249 for veterans and help defray the cost of the Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial Project expansion!
