3M E-A-Rfit Validation System FitTesting for Hearing Protectors Leading the Advancement of Hearing Conservation

3M E-A-Rfit Validation System Technology That Takes Hearing Conservation to the Next Level. Environmental controls, hearing protectors, and on-the-job training are the first steps to protecting your workers against noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). Take the next step with the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System, an objective, quantitative hearing protector fit-test system. Optimize Earplug Fit for Optimal Performance. Like respiratory fit testing, which indicates that maximum protection can only be obtained if the ideal fit is achieved, the E-A-Rfit system assists in achieving optimal fit through hearing protector selection and employee training. In less than 10 seconds, the system generates a personal attenuation rating (PAR) that indicates a worker s noise reduction levels. Compare ratings across hearing protectors to determine best fit. Get Objective, Personalized Results. Researchers at E-A-RCal Laboratories developed proprietary algorithms to analyze sound pressure inside hearing protectors. This in-the-ear testing procedure differs from many other systems on the market by providing quantitative, in-the-field data that does not rely on subject response. Fit, train, and monitor every worker using their Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR). Level of protection at seven standard frequencies. PAR 33 PAR 29 PAR 32

Look How Well It Fits Into Your Hearing Conservation Program Integrating hearing protector fit-testing into your hearing conservation program benefits your entire workforce. From new hires to high-risk workers, you can measure, monitor and maintain the protection of all your employees. Measure Establishes baseline values for new workers Provides a tool to use to train proper insertion techniques and to assess proficiency Helps correctly assign the most appropriate hearing protector(s) based on noise exposure and communication needs to minimize over or under protection Monitor Identifies workers at risk of threshold shifts Indicates employees needing further fit training or alternative hearing protectors Great for required follow-up to refit or retrain as needed when OSHA standard threshold shifts (STSs) are detected. Maintain Optimizes long-term performance of conservation program with regular check-up testing Assesses whether further training or additional protection is needed for workers who have experienced threshold shifts and high-risk employees Motivates employees to wear their hearing protectors Put The E-A-Rfit System To Work. The E-A-Rfit Validation System includes FREE on-line training and user support. For more information please contact your 3M sales representative or visit www.e-a-rfit.com PAR 28 PAR 29 PAR 29

It Takes Less Than 10 Seconds and 3 Simple Steps to Combat NIHL. Don t put your workers at risk by relying solely on lab-based noise reduction ratings (NRR).* Get a personalized attenuation rating (PAR) for each worker under actual working conditions. Determine the correct type and fit of hearing protector for each worker, and monitor workers at risk of threshold shifts. Once a subject is fitted, it takes less than 10 seconds to test 7 standard frequencies. Just self-fit earplugs, connect to the microphone, and run the test. Ten seconds, 3 steps, 1 real-world solution. Workers fit earplugs themselves. Unique dual-element microphone measures the noise reduction of each earplug as worn by the worker across the full spectrum of industrial noise frequencies. Patented software and proprietary algorithms quickly analyze real-ear data to provide Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR) and fit variability. ADVANTAGE: Reflects actual fitting habits and indicates if additional training is necessary. ADVANTAGE: Objectively tests 7 frequencies (125 Hz - 8 khz) in under 10 seconds, so you don t rely on subjective test responses. ADVANTAGE: PARs can be used to determine if the level of hearing protection your workers are getting is appropriate to their work environment. Documented Results. Easy-to-understand test results are documented for each test subject, both in print and electronic formats, for future reference. *Research suggests that many users will receive less noise reduction than indicated by the NRR due to variation in earplug fit and wear time. OSHA recommends that the NRR be reduced by 50% when estimating the field attenuation to account for workplace conditions.
