Keep containers tightly closed in a cool and well ventilated place. 2. When using the product, DO NOT eat, drink or smoke. 3. Do not breathe the dust (Part 2 Barium Sulphate Powder). 4. Avoid contact with skin & eyes and take off immediately all contaminated clothing. 5. DO NOT empty the contents into drains. 6. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, dust tight goggles for protection. 7. In case of fire, do not breathe fumes. 8. If swallowed contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre immediately (show product label). HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION HEALTH EFFECTS & FIRST AID FOR PART 1 INDICATOR SOLUTION ACUTE Swallowed: Adverse human effects have not been determined. Eyes: May cause irritation. May cause irritation. Inhaled: May cause irritation to nasal passages and throat. CHRONIC No comprehensive human or animal studies have been conducted for long term effects. FIRST AID Swallowed: Eye: Inhaled: Wash mouth out with water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention. Flush eyes immediately for at least 15 minutes, lifting eye lids, with copious amounts of water. Seek medical attention. Wash thoroughly with soap and plenty of water. HEALTH EFFECTS & FIRST AID FOR PART 2 BARIUM SULPHATE WHITE POWDER SUMMARY OF HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: Barium Sulphate is inert, practically non-toxic and chemically non-irritating. Skin contact may cause mechanical irritation due to abrasion. Eye contact will result in no specific effects other than general particulate irritation in the eye. Not absorbed by the body. Excessive exposure may give mild pulmonary irritation. ACUTE EFFECTS: Inhalation of dust may cause mechanical irritation to the respiratory tract. Skin and eye contact may cause a mechanical abrasion irritation. CHRONIC EFFECTS: Long-term and heavy extended exposures to the dust of Barium Sulphate may produce benign Pneumoconiosis termed Baritosis. This reaction results in no impairment of ventilatory function. Mild bronchial irritation may occur. FIRST AID Eye Contact: Flush thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical help if irritation persists. Skin Contact: Wash from skin with mild soap and water. Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Get medical help for any breathing difficulty. Ingestion: If conscious, give large quantities of water to induce vomiting. Get medical attention. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Leakage will stain other material or articles. Incompatible materials: Oxidizing agent. Spills and Disposal: Use personal protective equipment. DO NOT allow product to be released into sewers or waterways. Sweep up mixing with inert, absorbent material and dispose of contaminated material in accordance with State and local regulations. Hazardous decomposition: If heated above 220 0 C, will evolve sulphur and carbon.
