The International Society for Sandplay Therapy ISST offers an Intensive Training Week ITW for Sandplay trainees from Friday August 5th evening to morning of Thursday 11 August at the Arcadia Hotel Apsuciems, a small resort town near Riga in Latvia. The Course starts Friday August 5th with an evening lecture and finishes on the morning of Thursday 11 August after breakfast. All the sessions are accredited towards training for ISST membership. The teachers are all well known ISST certified Teaching Members who are ISST Board members. The teaching language is English. Sufficent knowledge in English is required or else participants need to arrange their own translation in small groups. * Program (for details of lectures and teachers see following pages): Friday evening: Welcoming and Opening lecture followed by dinner. Mornings: Plenum lectures Afternoons: Seminars on special topics and/or case material. Group supervision; Students present their work. Evenings free for discussion, events, films, movement, socializing etc. More supervision groups will be added if sufficient students are interested. Thursday: Departure after breakfast. Biography of Teachers. Betty Jackson, LSW, CST-T is a clinical social worker and Certified Sandplay Therapist/Teacher with over 35 years of experience in school, mental health agency, and private practice settings. She began her Sandplay training with Dora Kalff in 1975 and became a Teaching Member of Sandplay Therapists of America in 1991. She has presented nationally and internationally and authored several articles for the Journal of Sandplay Therapy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Sandplay Therapy and coordinates Sandplay training in the Mid-Atlantic region. Ms. Jackson works as a child & family therapist for an agency in northeast Maryland and maintains a private practice in Christiana, PA. Lenore F Steinhardt, MA, ATR, ISST-CSTT, has been an art therapist since 1980, an ISST member since 1997, Sandplay Teacher and Supervisor since 2000, and a Jungian Psychotherapist from 2003. She worked with children and families in a public clinic for 23 years and in private practice with children and adults for 35 years. Since 2003 she has directed a two- year Sandplay Therapy Training Program in Tel Aviv, and continues to teach and supervise Sandplay students. She has written two books on Sandplay: Foundation and Form in Jungian Sandplay- An Art Therapy Approach (2000), and On Becoming a Jungian Sandplay Therapist- The Healing Spirit of Sandplay in Nature and in Therapy (2012). She has authored four chapters in books, and presented at ISST International Conferences and Training weeks since 2001. Her Sandplay articles have appeared in the STA Journal of Sandplay Therapy and in other Journals. She is currently the ISTA representative to the ISST Board, and an Editor of the ISST Newsletter. Trudy Corry Rankin is a Jungian Psychotherapist in Private Practice in Florida, USA. She has been Licensed in Mental Health and in Nursing. As a Certified Sandplay Therapy Teacher, she is actively involved in the Sandplay Therapy Institute in the US and a member of the ISST Board as the Treasurer. Trudy focuses her personal and professional practice on deepening her spiritual formation. Dr Alexander Esterhuyzen MbChB, MRC Psych, CCST, IAAP, ISST, is a Senior (Jungian) Analyst with the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists in London. He has a longstanding interest in Sandplay Therapy dating back to the late 1970 s. He is currently in private practise in Kowloon, Hong Kong, and is a Sandplay Therapist and Teaching member of the International Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST). He is a President of ISST. Previously he worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist specialized in Psychotherapy in the National Health Service in England and was Honorary Senior Lecturer for the University of London at St.George's Hospital Medical School in London for many years. He has taught and supervised on many international projects in Analytical Psychology and in Sandplay Therapy. He is an accredited analyst and teacher of the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich, where he gives lectures and seminars. 4
