Get Up 10 Kizzy Willey- Ricedorff I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create endless ripples

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire... Bio: Kizzy Willey-Ricedorff Athlete, Model, Mentor, Inspirational Speaker Kizzy has played competitive volleyball for 13+ years and has been coaching and mentoring youth over the past 5 years throughout the west coast. As an athlete, she was able to win several State Championships in high school as well as go on to do what no single player has ever done in the state of Utah thus far by sweeping every award or title there was to earn in the state of Utah. This included, but was not limited to; Utah s Ms. Volleyball, Utah s MVP, Utah s Offensive Player of the Year, Utah s Gatorade Player of the Year, and was named to the 1st Team Under Armor High School All-American team. However, one of her most rewarding accomplishments was earning a spot on the USA Women s Jr. National Team where she helped her team take home a Gold and Bronze Metal for the United States. Kizzy then went on to play at Arizona State University, as an Outside/Rightside 4- year starter. She was named to the Dean s List all 8 semesters as well as being two-time 1st Team All PAC12 Academic Team Member. Some women fear the fire, while others simply become it. As a coach and entrepreneur, Kizzy is the CEO of her start-up business Get Up 10 and travels the Western States to hold summer volleyball camps and speaks to athletes and students as well as numerous businesses and events throughout country on building strong mental skills, including; mental imagery, positive self talk, managing emotions, managing anxiety, teamwork, motivation, and other significant building blocks in creating mental strength and perseverance.

Kizzy s Story Get Up 10 As a young athlete or daughter, you naturally look up to your mother, especially if your mother is a Hall of Fame, Division 1, Olympic Barcelona Hopeful volleyball star. So, for as long as I can remember, she was my 10. SHE was the perfect score, the perfect person to mimic and aspire to become. And ironically enough, that s just the number she wore, as she represented herself, her team, her family, and her country; #10. So, as I began my career, I naturally and proudly wore Jersey #10, just as my mother had. Whenever game day arrived, I would proudly wear #10 and fight for every point as hard as I knew how to, but if I ever started to doubt myself or internalize negative thoughts, I would hear my mother yelling from the crowd, Get UP, 10!! She not only wanted me to quite literally Get UP, as I jumped in the air for another attempted side out or kill, but she also wanted me to Get Up out of my own personal pity party and start acting like a champion; start acting like a 10. As I continued to grow and learn more about the wonderful sport of volleyball, I came to realize and understand how much of volleyball is truly a game of mistakes. The key concept here, however, is that everyone is going to make a mistake, but it s whether you get back up and keep fighting. That is the difference between good and great players. At an early age, I was taught and inherently knew, deep down in my gut, that even if the opponent was somehow able to Knock me down 9 times I would always Get Up 10. Throughout the blessed and triumphant periods in my career, I was able to wear #10 on my back, with pride. But most importantly, before every game, I would take a Sharpie to write my {now} personal Life Mantra on the inside of my right wrist; it simply said: Get Up 10. With this, I was able to look down between plays and remember; I was playing for something bigger than myself, I represented my team, my family, my name, and at one point (just like my mom); the United States of America. So, for every match, every set, and every point I tried to emulate just what those words said. I wanted to Get Up or elevate my game to the level my mother did. I wanted to Get Up every single game and be prepared to play mindfully and passionately for my team. But most importantly, I knew in my heart that even if I happened to get Knocked down 9 times I would always Get Up 10.

Kizzy s WHY Sometimes you need to be knocked down lower than you ve ever been in order to stand up taller than you ever were. Fast-forward several years, a few State Titles, Gatorade Player of the Year, Gold and Bronze medals for the USA, and several NCAA PAC-12 All American awards later and we come to 2015. In October of 2015, I went from starting for my #5 ranked Arizona State Volleyball team to laying flat on my back in the Mayo Clinic for 14 days and beginning a long 3+ year journey in and out of numerous ERs, hospitals and clinics. No doctors, specialist or surgeon could tell me why I was passing out in pain due to severe neurological and muscular issues occurring in my back and entire right side. I was tested for every cancer, disease and disorder you could think of and for the last 3 years and that has been my reality. A reality where no doctor can explain why you live in daily excruciating pain and suffering aside from the fact that many believe I ve faked my illness or am seeking attention. I wish to inspire others to find their own glitter linings in every situation, no matter how dire. Never surrender. Never let someone tell you that you can t. Never let anything beat you. And every time someone or something knocks you down? GET UP. I have always wanted to inspire or motivate others in a positive way. But most importantly, I want to be a woman who teaches by being. I believe there is an indefinite amount of power within women, as well as within anyone who has faced something that s knocked them down. And for me, ROCK BOTTOM became the solid foundation on which I began to rebuild my life upon and I wanted to GET UP 10. It doesn t just have to be for an unknown invisible illness but rather as a reminder that WE ARE STRONGER than whatever is trying to hurt us. It could be Cancer, Leukemia, Parkinson s, death, domestic violence, addiction, bullying, unemployment, or even just for a random rainy day ANYTHING! But stand up and face these challenges head on. Sometimes you have to get knocked down lower than you have ever been, in order to stand back up to be taller than you ever were. So, as we go through our daily challenges and trials of life, I want to encourage others to stand with me with a "GET UP 10" ATTITUDE. Stand strong. NOTHING can tear you down, you WILL beat this, and you CAN succeed and even when you've been knocked down 9 times, ALWAYS GET UP 10.
