As a tribute to the international achievements of Prof. Guy Vanderstraeten a short presentation has been attempted, on his C.V, his academic career, his enormous contributions to medicine and especially to PRM, his European & international research activities published in indexed and refereed journals, the numerous awards he received and all his accomplishments as an eminent professor (not only to the University of Ghent, but well known to the entire academic community in Belgium as well as to the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine scientific community nationally & internationally).
Apart from all his achievements to the highest academic levels and his successful contribution to Ghent university, Guy has always been very humble and never talked about himself. However there were a number of qualities that were immediately evident to all his colleagues - honesty, reliability, humor, a true interest in other people, empathy for and care of his patients, a love of medicine and especially the teaching of medicine.
