' - Laxabon R - questions, answers and practical advice Answers are based on the patient information leaflet for Laxabon powder for oral solution dated 26 March 2010. Note that the information may be updated. Always read the patient information leaflet in the package. When should I start my Laxabon treatment? It depends on when the examination is planned. Laxabon can be taken in the morning on the same day as the planned examination, provided it is initiated 4 hours before the examination. Laxabon can also be taken in the evening on the day before the examination. How should Laxabon be mixed? Dissolve the contents of one sachet in 0.f r litre of lukewarm tap water and stir vigorously until all of the powder is dissolved. Then add another 0.5 litre of tap water and stir to mix the liquid. Once the prepared solution has been used up, repeat this procedure with the other sachets. How should Laxabon be taken? Quickly drink one glass (approx. 2.5 di) of the solution at 10-15 minute intervals. This produces better results than taking a sip now and then. If your doctor's instructions differ from this, follow your doctor's instructions. Do I have to drink 4 litres? Yes, in most cases 4 litres is needed to fully clean out the bowels. This is necessary to ensure the examination maintains a high level of quality and safety. If you drink a smaller amount, it may be necessary to repeat the examination. When X-rays are taken of the urinary tract, 2 litres of Laxabon is sufficient. Some individuals may experience nausea and/or bloating. This will subside after a short time and will be reduced if you wait a little longer than 10 minutes between the glasses of solution.

I Depending on when the examination will be performed, you can split the Laxabon solution intake into two 2-litre periods with a few hours in between. Discuss with your doctor what would be the best for you. Why am I not supposed to eat 3-4 hours before Laxabon treatment? The aim is to ensure that the bowels are as clean as possible for the examination. Bowel cleansing works best if the food you have eaten has had time to leave the stomach. What am I allowed to drink before and after Laxabon treatment? You may drink clear liquids (e.g. water, juices without pulp, tea). Am I allowed to drink between glasses of Laxabon? If the Laxabon treatment is divided into two 2-litre periods, you can drink clear liquids during the breaks. Why doesn't Laxabon have any flavouring? When developing Laxabon, we tested various flavourings, but the slightly salty taste was still easily detectable. Since such a large amount must be ingested, we chose to keep Laxabon neutral in flavour. The slightly salty taste of Laxabon is because the liquid has been carefully developed to prevent the balance of salts and liquid in the body from being disrupted when the bowels are emptied. May I mix Laxabon with another liquid? No, do not mix Laxabon with any other liquid - not even carbonised water - because it could impact the efficacy and safety.

- Laxabon f!,' - questions, answers and practical advic Does Laxabon contain any animal products? No, Laxabon does not contain any animal products. Can I take Laxabon if I have allergies? If you have allergies, always contact your doctor since there are many different types of allergies and each case is unique.

Advice Make sure you are in the immediate vicinity of a toilet as Laxabon will produce a rapid emptying of the bowels. Before drinking the solution, it is a good idea to apply an oil-based ointment to the anus to protect the skin. It will be easier for the bowels to start working if you move around during the time period you are drinking Laxabon. One suggestion is walking in place - lift one knee towards your stomach along with the opposite arm, switching back and forth left and right. Do this to the best of your ability. You do not need to work so hard that you begin to sweat! After preparing the solution, chilling it will make it taste a little better (but it should not be too cold as this could then cool your body down). Laxabon is approved for bowel cleansing prior to surgery, colonoscopy or X-ray examina tions. Laxabon produces diarrhoea that quickly clears the bowels - normally within 4 hours. The active ingredients are macrogol 3350, anhydrous sodium sulphate, sodium hydrogen carbonate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride and anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide. The recommended adult dosage is 4 litres. For more information on the product in Swedish, see www.fass.se
