Addiction in Tarrant County By the numbers Addiction is No. 1 health issue in the United States today. (Health & Human Services) 18.7 million Americans drink alcohol in ways that are potentially unhealthy. (Office of National Drug Control Policy) 22.1 million people 12 or older need treatment for a substance abuse disorder (Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration, 2010)

Addiction in Tarrant County MHMR by the numbers 4,050 adults received chemical dependency treatment last year 710 adolescents received treatment for chemical dependency last year 9,300 people received prevention and education for Substance Abuse and HIV last year 1,600 homeless substance abuse/ dependent clients received supportive services last year

Co-Occurring Disorders Source: Psychology Today People with co-occurring disorders have one or more disorders relating to the use of alcohol and/or other drugs as well as one or more mental disorders. More than half of all adults with severe mental illness are further impaired by substance use disorders (abuse or dependence related to alcohol or other drugs). People with dual disorders often experience more severe and chronic medical, social, and emotional problems.

Disability Services We provide information and referral services to people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and their families. Our Intake and Access is the point of contact for people seeking information about community resources and supports for people with IDD. We also provide service coordination for more than 3,250 people.

Disability Services Adult Day Activities Center Adult Work Force Training 22 Group Homes In-Home Assistance Transportation: My Ride Tarrant Nursing Home Transition IDD Specialty Clinic

Early Childhood Intervention ECI provides services to 6,800 families with children (birth to 36 months) who have developmental delays and disabilities in 11 counties. Services are provided by licensed and credentialed professionals. The ECI team and family members work together to help the child learn new skills through everyday activities in the home or a community setting. ECI works with schools and NICUs to transition to/from ECI.
