SUMMARY General objectives This 2 year project, building on the work of the previously EU funded IMPHA project aims to provide a comprehensive strategy for mental health promotion (MHP) and mental disorder prevention (MDP) by: 1) Creating a sustained European Platform for MHP and MDP with country coalitions and European synergies; 2) Developing indicators, interventions, training and action plans for MHP-MDP; and, 3) Disseminating and implementing information and action across Europe. Strategic relevance and contribution to the public health programme - Methods and means During year 1 a European Platform for MHP and MDP with partners across Europe will be created with taskforces of partners to support the work of the WPs. Country based coalitions will be developed to provide information on the indicators for WP 1,3,5,6 through developed tools. Information systems will display the indicators gathered and their reports. During year 2 training on advocacy skills will be provided, information systems will be widely accessible and country coalitions will feedback on the products of WP 1-6. At a technical level, the project is low risk due to the experience on information systems and MHP-MDP of all partners and the successful existing partnership and product development during the previous IMPHA. At a working level, the risk might be the short period to develop and monitor indicators of HIA on the impact of a public policy (e.g. education) in the time available. Strategies might not be in place or it might take longer to monitor impact. The commitment of the Member State to monitoring the impact of mental health in another policy will ensure the continuation of the monitoring. The European Platform for MHP and MDP and its sustainability will support the MHIA to continue and stimulate the work in other countries in the future. Expected outcomes period Work package n 1 - Information system on infrastructures for MHP-MDP Work package n 2 - Information system: a database of depression, suicide and eating disorder prevention practices Work package n 3 - Information system and provision of training on advocacy skills Work package n 4 - Development of information on policy, implementation and action Work package n 5 - Indicators for Health Impact Page 3/12
