Update on epizootic situation ASF cases in wild boar in 2018 Since last PAFF 446 new cases, Number of cases since 1 January to 28 February 595 In total 1499 cases since the first one on 17 February 2014 till 28 February 2018 ASF outbreaks in pigs in 2018 4 outbreaks since 1 January 1 new outbreak since last PAFF In total 108 outbreaks since 2014

The number of ASF cases in wild boar since the publication of Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2018/263 of 20 February 2018 amending Implementing Decision 2014/709/EU concerning animal health control measures relating to African swine fever in certain Member States to 26 February 2018 55 51 cases in wild boar are located in the areas listed in Part II or Part III of the Annex to CID 2014/709/EU. 2 cases in wild boar: 2018/569 and 2018/571 are located in municipality Bartoszyce, bartoszycki district, warmińsko- mazurskie region, in the areas listed in Part I of the Annex to CID 2014/709/EU. Description: 2018/569 case: a dead wild boar, confirmed on 23.02.2018, app. 0,5 km from Polish - Russian border. 2018/571 case: a dead wild boar, confirmed also on 23.02.2018, app. 1,5 km from Polish - Russian border.

Current situation in pigs 2018/4 outbreak of ASF Location: Gęś village in municipality of Jabłoń, parczewski district, lubelskie region, in the areas listed in Part II of the Annex to CID 2014/709/EU; Number of pigs kept in the holding 640.

2018/4 outbreak of ASF in pigs Suspiction 22 February 2018: Clinical signs apathy, fever, ears bruises, 9 dead pigs. Samples taken from 2 dead and 30 live pigs (representative group). Results of laboratory tests: Current situation in pigs 2 positive results (RT-PCR) in relation to the samples obtained from the dead pigs; 13 positive results (RT-PCR), including the positive results in ELISA and IPT methods in relation to the samples obtained from the represetnative group of live pigs due to ASF suspicion. NVRI confirmation 23 February 2018

Current situation in pigs 2018/4 outbreak of ASF in pigs Killing on 26.02.2018 Disposal on 27.02.2018 Measures according to Council Directive 2002/60/EC implemented. Epidemiological investigation on-going. Distance from the last ASF cases found close to this village app. 3,5 km no. 2018/315 detected in a dead wild boar on 27 January 2018 and no. 2018/464 detected in six dead wild boars on 13 February 2018. Distance beetwen 2018/4 ASF outbreak in parczewski district and the nearest ASF cases in wild boar

Results of epidemiological investigation in 1-4 outbreaks of ASF in Poland in 2018: Outbreak 1/2018: Confirmed on 3 January 2018 in Łozy village, in the municipality of Paprotnia, siedlecki district, mazowieckie region, at the holding where 82 pigs were kept: The farmer own also a plantation of christmas trees in the area contaminated with ASF virus. Non compliance with biosecurity rules during human activity (lack of proper disinfection mats and lack of disinfectants register evidence by the farmer) could cause ASF virus introduction into the holding from the area with the trees plantation. Outbreak 2/2018: Also confirmed on 3 January 2018 in Stary Bartków village, in municipality of Korczew, siedlecki district, mazowieckie region, at the holding where 69 pigs were kept: The probable source of ASF virus introduction into the holding has not been detected until now.

Results of epidemiological investigation in 1-4 outbreaks of ASF in Poland in 2018: Outbreak 3/2018: Confirmed on 10 January 2018 in Derewiczna village in municipality of Komarówka Podlaska, radzyński district, lubelskie region, at the holding where 25 pigs were kept. The probable source of ASF virus introduction into the holding could be non compliance with biosecurity rules during human activity (lack of proper disinfection mats and lack of disinfectants register evidence by the farmer) in connection with the possibility of illegal logging of wild boar from the area contaminated with ASF virus. Poaching is being investigated by law enforcement agency. Outbreak 4/2018: Confirmed on 23 February 2018 in Gęś village, in municipality of Jabłoń, parczewski district, mazowieckie region, at the holding where 640 pigs were kept: Investigation on-going.

Measures unndertaken in connection with the occurence of African swine fever Amendment of the MARD Regulatiom of 6 May 2015 on measures undertaken due to occurence of ASF in force - 28 February 2018 - concern the territory of Poland which is not listed in the Annex to CID 2014/709. Orders: Seperate pig keeping with separate entrances and no direct access to other premises where other ungulates are kept, feed protected against access of wild animals; protection of pig buildings against wild and other domestic animals access register of means of transport for pigs entering the holding and register of entries of persons into the premises where pigs are kept, Census of pigs in the holding, divided into piglets, weaners, fatteners, sows, gilts, boars, young boars and updates of this list;

Measures unndertaken in connection with the occurence of African swine fever using of protective clothing and protective footwear only for the purposes of handling pigs in the holding and hygiene measures necessary to reduce the risk of spread of ASF, including disinfection of hands and footwear; regular cleaning and disinfection of equipment used for handling the pigs place disinfection mats, respectively, in front of entries to premises where pigs are kept as well at the exits. The width of the mats should not be smaller than the width of entrance or exit, the length - not less than 1 m; the holding where pigs are kept in an open system should be secured with double fencing, at least 1,5 m height, with stable base or with digged in;

Measures unndertaken in connection with the occurence of African swine fever Prohibitions: bringing into the pig holding any dead wild boar, carcasses of wild boar, parts of carcasses of wild boar and animal by-products (acc. To Reg. 1069/2009) derived from wild boar, as well as materials or items which may be contaminated with ASFV; handling of pigs by persons who participate in hunting of wild game or within the last 72 hours.

Measures unndertaken in connection with the occurence of African swine fever on the whole teritory of Poland since Jule 2017: prohibition of feeding pigs with grain and green grass originating from area listed in Part II and Part III of the Annex to CID 2014/709, unless that these feed has been treated to destroy ASFV or stored in a place without access of wild boar for at least 30 days; prohibition of using straw originating from area listed in Part II and Part III of the Annex to CID 2014/709 unless this straw has been treated to destroy ASFV or stored without access of wild boars for at least 90 days.
