The Rationale for Developing Physician-Leaders The many challenges in healthcare today require great leadership. Access, affordability and quality are just a few of the overarching issues that call for and, in fact, demand great leadership from within healthcare. Only recently are healthcare organizations awakening to the importance of developing physician-leaders and, in this context, offering physician-leadership programs. Join Dr. Stoller as he outlines the domains of needed competencies for effective physician-leadership. Creating and Leading High-Performance Teams Work complexity and job specialization necessitate working across organizational, educational and institutional boundaries to provide the best care while maintaining quality and cost. Teamwork is essential; building and creating high-performing teams is critical to organizational success. This presentation focuses on the attributes of high-performing teams, including the skills and leadership abilities necessary to create and sustain team excellence. The Physician-Architect Engagement: 5 Principles for Architectural Success Architects who design healthcare projects must learn to navigate the complex waters of hospital building projects. How can physicians and other hospital staff adjust to a design process that changes the ecology of their healing environment? This session will discuss the five principles of organizational development that should guide the relationship between a hospital and their architect and will examine the issue from the perspective of both the physician and designer.
