Guided students of Dental major to present oral & poster presentation of various recent trends of microbiological research and forthcoming discoveries in IDA conference 2011. PROJECT DETAILS Project 1: Detection of Resistance determinants, plasmid-mediated quinolone Resistance gene (QNR-gene) by molecular analysis among the quinolone resistant Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi isolates. Place of Study: Dr. ALM PG Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Madras, Chennai. Blood samples from various hospitals in Chennai was collected and screened for Salmonella Typhi. The isolates were tested for plasmid mediated quinolone resistance Gene QNR by molecular analysis method of PCR.. Project 2: Identification of opportunistic Enteric pathogens from HIV +ve patients attending a tertiary care hospital at Madhurandagam, India Place of Study: Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center, Chennai. Stool samples from HIV seropositive patients attending KVMC hospital were collected and analyzed for enteric parasites. CD4+ counts of the patients were also analyzed.
Project 3: Hospital based sentinel surveillance of Bacterial meningitis in India (HBSSBMP) ICMR Project Place of Study: Govt. Stanley Medical College, National Institute of Epidemiology (ICMR) Chennai. Isolation, Identification and Molecular Characterization of various Pathogenic Bacteria s ( S.pneumoniae H.influenzae N.meningitidis ) responsible for bacterial meningitis in below 5 years of Children in and around North Chennai. This project is funded by ICMR Project 4-Ongoing Characterization of Circulating Follicular helper T cells, functional analysis and role of immune cells interactions Place of Study: Department of Clinical Research- NIRT (ICMR) Chennai. Isolation and Identification of circulating T follicular helper cells and factors involved in the differentiation T follicular helper cells subsets and Determine the role of Immune cells involved in the signaling, epigenetic modification and plasticity of T follicular helper cells and their subsets INPLANT TRAINING One month training in Quality Control Departments (Bacteriology and Virology Vaccine ) at Serum Institute of India Ltd.
