Super-Summer-Slim-Down-Spectacular 3M s newsletter 7.24.15 Your newsletter from Health Coach R.N. Joni and Dr. Lana-Wellness. Hello Super Summer Slimdown Participants, Hope you are having a Super Fantabulous Summer Break!!! High temperatures and lots of rain, you have to love summer in Florida! Early morning seems to be the ideal time to get outside and get moving with whatever activity suits you. Evenings are fine as long as the rain stays away.. How have you managed to continue moving in this crazy hot rainy summer? Let s think of sweat as this

Take the Path Least Traveled It takes courage and confidence. It has some risks but it often brings great rewards: the challenge of the new, the thrill of exploration, growth from learning and selfconfidence from success. We know what happens to people who stay in the middle of the road. They get run over. - Aneurin Bevan M= Mind This week we have excerpts from Grow Younger, Live Longer by Deepak Chopra. The normal experience of the body and its aging is a conditioned response- a habit of thinking and behavior. By changing your habits of thinking and behavior, you can change the experience of your body and its aging. Most people think and act within the narrow limitations of what they have been taught during childhood, without questioning the basic assumptions that structure their world view. To live a healthier, richer, more creative life you need recognize that most of what you hold true derives from habits of thought. The Quantum Possibilities You are not merely the physical body that you identify with out of habit. Your essential state is a field of infinite possibilities. The body is holographic: therefore if you change one biomarker you influence them all. The conditioning of our society leads us to believe that as we grow older, we deteriorate physically and mentally. When you break out of this conditioning, you will learn from your own

experience that every day in every way you can increase your physical and mental capacity. Here are a few things you can do to break out of your habitual behavioral patterns. Try them for a week and see what happens to your BODY and MIND: Change your diet Change your exercise program Change your route to work Change you bedtime Meditate longer (or begin to meditate just 5 minutes for beginners) Buy different clothing Wear new colors Listen to different kinds of music Stop wearing a watch Wear your watch on the other wrist Go out to lunch with someone new Try a new restaurant Change your opinion about someone or something Call a friend you haven t spoken to in years Answer the phone differently Change your voicemail message Read a book that you usually wouldn t consider Watch a different TV show Listen to a different radio station Take a new class Let go of old ways and you will feel renewed Have the conscious intention to think and act flexibly Practice letting go whenever holding on is no longer serving you

M= Mouth Giving up refined grains is good, but whole grains do a whole lot of good. Think again about your carbs and choose wisely!!! https://www.yahoo.com/health/8-things-that-happen-when-youstop-eating-bread-124006285903.html M= Movement Hey want to feel all sorts of young again, and just play like when we were young. Jumping jacks fit perfectly into an interval training session. Do a one-minute session of jumping jacks or other calisthenics to spike your heart rate before you slow down to a recovery rate for up to one minute. Your heart rate will stay elevated during the recovery period, continuing a high-level of fat-burning and improving your stamina. Use jumping jacks to make moderate exercise more challenging. For example, walk briskly for five minutes, do jumping jacks for one minute and return to walking. Repeat this cycle throughout your walk.

M= Motivation In closing, We hope that you have gained some knowledge of the importance of physical activity and good nutrition. Movement for your body is so good for so many reasons, muscles, joints, heart, lungs, mood, and mind. Nutrition is also so important for so many reasons. Food provides the building blocks for your body. Be sure to feed your body what it needs to be healthy. Now add a Happy Spirit to fill this awesome body!!! You are UNSTOPPABLE!!!!!!!!! Remember junk food is not food, it s just junk!! Here is to you and your changes for the better!!
