PROJECT HELP US GIVE, INC. 2018 H.U.G. AWARD GALA CAMILLE BLOCK 36 Intimate Apparel Journal Project Help Us Give, Inc. 2018 H.U.G. Award Gala 37

On November 6, 2018, PROJECT HELP US GIVE, INC. hosted its signature fundraiser THE H.U.G. AWARD GALA at the 230 Fifth Avenue Penthouse, New York City. The event brought together 250 guests along with honorees Robert Vitale of WACOAL AMERICA, INC. and EUROVET to raise funds towards its efforts to benefit pediatric programs at Rusk Rehabilitation as well as other services at Hassenfeld Children s Hospital at NYU Langone. The evening began with a video that perfectly highlighted the extraordinary efforts of the Rusk Rehabilitation s pediatric services team. They were shown thanking PROJECT HELP US GIVE for its all-important support. The guests at the gala, leaders from the intimate apparel industry, including retail and textile executives could also hear Dr. Steven R. Flanagan, the Howard A. Rusk Professor and Chair of Rehabilitation Medicine and Medical Director, Rusk Rehabilitation at NYU LANGONE HEALTH, sharing the impact the club has made with donations of over $7 million dollars to date. Dr. Flanagan said he and his team of doctors and therapists are extremely thankful For not only financial support but how the club s officers and members incorporate themselves into the fabric of the Rusk Rehabilitation treatment experience, while improving the social and psychological well-being of the Rusk children and their families. The gala was hosted this year by the club s secretary, Walter Costello, and with his commanding voice, introduced Clelia Parisi, President of the club. She made note that the funds raised at the event would be dedicated giving applied to specific programs at Rusk Rehabilitation and Hassenfeld Children s Hospital based on the wish list submitted by the teams there. The checks are given out at the club s annual Christmas party in December. We want you to know that the honorees are real people that care, and that is why they were honored. Both Bob of Wacoal and Marie-Laure Bellon and Raphael Camp of EUROVET have demonstrated their dedication and support of the children s services the club holds dear to its heart. The club is now in its 63rd year as a NYbased charity with a 42-year collaboration with the Rusk Institute and Hassenfeld Children s Hospital of New York at NYU Langone Health. To quote Ms. Parisi: What differentiates the club from other organizations is its personal connection with the children, staff, therapists and doctors at the hospital. We enjoy joining the children for organized play time (Helping Hands) and parties throughout the year. The generosity of our volunteers is most evident by the thousands of hours they donate in community service. 38 Intimate Apparel Journal Project Help Us Give, Inc. 2018 H.U.G. Award Gala 39

Now let s meet the honorees for this year. The club depends so much on the dedication of its honorees and of course the members, without whom the club could not exist. ROBERT VITALE President and CEO, WACOAL AMERICA, INC. Bob, a longtime supporter of the H.U.G. Gala is uniquely aware of the club s mission and purpose and has been involved with the club for many years. He is the President and CEO of Wacoal America, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Wacoal Holdings, a global intimate apparel company. Under Bob s leadership since 1997 in key roles, Wacoal has become the dominant number one intimates brand in department and specialty stores in the United States while growing distribution across the Americas, the Middle East, throughout Asia and China, and Europe. Besides solidifying the Wacoal reputation for fit, quality and value, Bob is one of the principal architects of Wacoal America s industry-leading, cause-marketing partnerships with Susan G. Komen. The support of the breast cancer Awareness Bra campaigns and Fit for the Cure bra fitting events has donated millions of dollars to Komen. We thank you Bob, for helping PROJECT HELP US GIVE!! MARIE-LAURE BELLON CEO, EUROVET Most of the lingerie industry is familiar with EUROVET, but it is the CURVE EXPO in New York and Las Vegas that comes to mind right away. Under Marie-Laure s leadership since 2003 and as CEO of EUROVET since 2008, the company has been growing and has become the world leader for lingerie and swimwear trade shows. Under her leadership, Eurovet has also launched two trade shows in Shanghai and Hong Kong, established an Asian subsidiary based in Hong Kong, and acquired CURVExpo, the leading American lingerie trade shows. Among her many accomplishments, she was appointed in September 2010 to the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honour by the Foreign Trade Ministry for her contribution to furthering the development of French lingerie around the world. Marie-Laure has been very impressed with the club s dedication and all the work done by the services team at Rusk. She has very much been a part of helping the kids at Rusk and we thank Marie-Laure for her support. RAPHAEL CAMP CEO, EUROVET AMERICAS Raphael Camp got right on board with PROJECT HELP US GIVE and he has pledged to become even more involved with the club. Camp has been in New York City since 2012 when he enrolled in Columbia s MBA program and also successfully launched the U.S. division of Kusmi Tea. By 2017, Camp was tapped to became the CEO of EUROVET AMERICAS, overseeing four CURVE trade shows a year, two in New York City and two in Las Vegas, as well as the Interfiliere New York show in October. Raphael believes that the role of business trade shows is to bring communities of entrepreneurs together to grow business, share ideas and help them navigate their way. His heart led him to help promote the club at CURVE this past summer and also at INTERFILIERE. He is a true partner and is genuinely interested in the wellbeing of the patients the club is helping. We want you to know about the club PROJECT HELP US GIVE, INC AND NYU LANGONE HOSPITAL In January 1955, the original club, namely the INTIMATE APPAREL SQUARE CLUB was formed by seventeen masons from various Master Lodges who had affiliations within the intimate apparel industry. The club was established to unite members and to promote within its membership a social program with principals of brotherhood and to aid the less fortunate by contributions to recognized charities and causes. It has been a process. In its early years the club supported a number of charities that aided the blind and the elderly. And originally the club only consisted of men in the lingerie business. BUT, today (and for a number of years) the club welcomes women as well, from the apparel and other non-affiliated industries. Fast forward to 1977 when the club was introduced to Dr. Howard Rusk, who founded the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine in 1948 to help children with serious disabilities. Since then the club has taken a personal interest in these children. The funds raised helped provide rehabilitation and other items to help make their lives a little better. RAPHAEL CAMP & MARIE-LAURE BELLON MARIE-LAURE, RAPHAEL & CLELIA Many years later, in 1991, the club expanded its support of Rusk to include funding for research, training and pediatric rehabilitation programs for children as well as the refurbishing of childcare facilities. And in 1998 the club established and gave the first HELP US GIVE award at the annual dinner dance. Since then, the proceeds from the annual H.U.G. GALA has gone to support the Rusk Kids. The club members maintain a personal connection with The Kids throughout the year by holding special events at Rusk. There are parties with the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus and there has even been face painting. The members discover untapped talents and it s the smiles and laughter from the children that make it all worthwhile. 42 Intimate Apparel Journal Project Help Us Give, Inc. 2018 H.U.G. Award Gala 43

In 2016, the club re-invented itself and changed the name to PROJECT HELP US GIVE. The club is moving forward to be more inclusive, drawing support from other industries in its efforts to aid children s pediatric care and services. Throughout the years, the club has honored many notable and well-respected individuals as well as high-profile companies, from retail, fashion and other business sectors. Some of the past recipients of the H.U.G. AWARD at the annual gala are: JOCKEY INTERNATIONAL, KOMAR, KOHL S, JCPENNEY, LENZING FIBERS, PVH, TARGET, HANESBRANDS, MAIDENFORM and VICTORIA S SECRET. The club strives to maintain a lasting commitment with all of the honorees. PROJECT HELP US GIVE, INC. The mission is to unite individuals in a charitable organization to partner with pediatric healthcare and service providers to deliver the best care and to contribute to children s independence and optimize their quality of life. WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US, AND VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME IN SUPPORT OF THIS MOST WORTHY CAUSE. To learn more about PROJECT HELP US GIVE and the H.U.G.
