Scheinman, MD Professor of Medicine, Emeritus Walter H. Shorenstein Endowed Chair in Cardiology University of California, San Francisco

UPDATE IN ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY AND ARRHYTHMIAS This one-day symposium is designed to review and update concepts related to ECG, interpretation and arrhythmia management. This course will focus on advances relating to the ECG diagnosis of pericardial and ischemic heart disease and the role of drugs, devices, and catheter ablation for patients with cardiac arrhythmias. In addition, the role of newer devices for management of patients with heart failure will be presented, focusing on arrhythmia mechanisms, newer drugs, and advances in device therapy for these patients. Designed to meet the individual needs of the participants, there will be small group workshops for those with basic knowledge, as well as for those with advanced knowledge in these areas. Intended to meet the needs of practicing clinicians, this conference is targeted to internists, clinical cardiologists, nurses, and those working in intensive care units or electrophysiology laboratories. This conference is presented by the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, and is sponsored by the Office of Continuing Medical Education, University of California, San Francisco. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: Accurately incorporate ECG in diagnoses and treatment of patients with ischemic heart disease; Improve analysis of atypical ECG, prolonged monitoring and exercise studies; Achieve improved management of patients with atria fibrillation and incorporate device therapy for congestive heart failure.
