Governor s Message There are a lot of things happening, so I thought I would take a moment to update you. If you have not been out to the Lodge lately you have missed a lot of fun events (Family Fun Day, Birthday Celebrations, Halloween party), however, it s not too late we have many things planned. Check your newsletter. Membership/Retention: Don t forget we have our current Membership and retention drive happening. If you sign up two new members you get a free year of membership. The new member gets their application fee waived. We are doing great this year on signing up new members. Our goal for this year ending pril 30 th is 96 new members. We have signed up 80 so far. We need to make sure that you are inviting back those folks you signed up to renew. Members are the cornerstone of a successful Lodge. Invite your friends, and neighbors. If you enjoy the Lodge I am sure they will like it as well. New Building Update: Well it has been one year since we started down the path of building a new lodge. The committee has put a lot of hours working with Garcia Construction and the PWC Planning Staff. We have reached a critical point in our journey. On November 3 rd we will be holding a membership meeting with both the LOOM and WOTM members to update you on the status and request approval to expend funds to move forward should we get the approval of our Special Use Permit from the County. On November 7 th at 7:00PM, at the McCoart Building, the Moose Lodge will go before the PWC Planning Commission where the Moose Lodge, friends of the Lodge, and residents will have an opportunity to voice their opinion. This will be a critical step in getting approval to build. If approved, we will go before the PWC Board of Supervisors in December for final approval. Once approved, we anticipate that the construction process will start in the March/pril time frame. Moose Breakfast: On Saturday October 27 th we served an all you can eat and drink breakfast buffet from 9:00M to 11:00PM. There was eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, potatoes, French toast, gravy, bloody Mary s, screw drivers and mimosas all for the low price of $10. Not a better deal to be had anywhere. The board will be discussing having breakfast once a month as a permanent part of the activities at the Moose. Look for breakfast to start being served in December. Charities: s you know being a Moose member we have a responsibility to support Moose Heart and Moose Haven. Each month our Lodge contributes to those two wonderful organizations. dditionally, we hold fund raisers to contribute more to them. However, we also have a responsibility to be the Heart of the Community. Over the last 2 years we have donated in excess of $60K to Mooseheart, Moosehaven, Virginia Moose ssociations and local Prince William County organizations supporting the homeless, Police Officers, schools and youth sports to name a few. To further our commitment the Lodge Board based on recommendations from the general membership have also earmarked three special charities for the rest of the Moose Calendar Year. You will see information on The rc, Prince William nimal Shelter, and Street Light Ministries as they come to the lodge and speak to the general membership to share with us what they do and how they support the community. s a Lodge we should be very proud of the work we do to help others and strive every day to help someone less fortunate. Remember the Moose International Theme for the year is Moose on a Mission. We have gone a step further Moose on a Mission and Dale City Moose Lodge is leading the Way NEED YOUR HELP: Just a friendly reminder that the Moose relies mostly on the help of Volunteers. We have a dedicated staff that works to make the Moose function. However, many of the day to day operations need volunteers. We are looking for men or women that want to be part of team to help cook almost every night of the week. If you are in the lodge and see a full trash can, ask for some help and roll it out to the dumpster. lways check with your bartenders and see if they need the coolers restocked. nytime we have a party, an event, a fund raiser we need your help. Be part of the Moose Lodge and volunteer! Upcoming Events: The first comedy night will be held on Saturday November 3 rd. s of writing this update there were only 5 tickets left. Don t be left out. Saturday November 10 th will be the Moose Riders Cash Drawn down. Come out and buy your tickets and win some cash. Sunday November 11 th will be the Valued Veterans Day at 10am. ll members that have indicted registered that they are or were Veterans will receive a special pin and a certificaterecognizing them and their commitment to serving our country. 2018-2019 LOOM OFFICERS Governor...
