UNIVERSITY MASTER DEGREE IN LASER, MSC Prof. Giuseppe IARIA Lasers in Dentistry & in Oral Surgery The Master s Degree Program University Master in Laser Dentistry (UMLM) is designed for the general dentist who has already taken the first step towards the field of Laser Assisted Dentistry. The master programme " LASERS IN DENTISTRY AND IN ORAL SURGERY aims to provide participants with specific expertise on the various uses of lasers in dentistry and oral surgery and differences between the various wavelengths. Through lectures and practical exercises, the participant will acquire knowledge about: setting parameters, protocols and operating techniques. The aims of the course are to provide expertise on the principles underlying the physics of lasers, the main components of a laser, the pulse mode, the interactions with the various tissue components. The meetings will focus on the use of lasers on dental hard tissues - enamel, dentin, bone and soft tissues. There will be analyzed the use of lasers for analgesia, biostimulation, decontamination, endodontics, periodontics and for peri-implant treatments using the latest contributions of the international scientific literature. The 12-months modular graduate degree program takes your time constraints and job responsibilities into consideration. You have to travel four times to University center in Versilia during your course of studies. Each stay lasting between 4 and 6 days: you'll have lessons, hands-on courses and live surgeries thus grow through input from our international faculty, guest lectures and fellow students.
After successful completion of the program, graduates will receive the academic title of Master of Science (MSc.) in Laser Dentistry. The graduates will be able to independently plan and implement therapy concepts for the treatment of patients requiring dental laser treatments. In addition, graduates will also have the skills required to select, analyse and fully integrate into their own practice a full range of treatments and knowledge in the field of laser assited dentistry. Through lessons on theory and hands-on participation activities the Masters course aims to help the student acquire specific proficiency and clinical experience in laser wavelengths principally used in dentistry. The clinical experience activities will be held in the new department of laser therapy and surgery, with live operations on patients performed by participants under the guidance and supervision of teachers. The course concludes with a Final Exam & a Master's Thesis on topics of lasers that will prepare the student during the year and will discuss at the end of the course.
