It is important that Persons of Color bring their lived experience to address national and local health disparities yet too often, Communities of Color have been systematically excluded from community planning processes or misrepresented. Without the narrative of these communities we cannot hope to end this epidemic. Blacks/African-American communities continue to suffer with disproportionate rates of both HIV infections and AIDS diagnoses. Why The BLOC Program?

Purpose of BLOC Program The purpose of BLOC program is to build the capacity of Persons of Color Living with HIV to serve in leadership positions as it relates to the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of federally funded HIV-related services in the United States. Their participation will inform, educate, and support planning bodies and services providers to truly understand the needs of those who are most vulnerable. BLOC graduates will develop solutions that are built on the strengths and assets of these communities to create real solutions.
