District 20 continues to purchase literature for and to carry the message to inmates in the Collier County Jail and the Department of Juvenile Justice in Naples and the Immokalee jail center, when the I.J.C. is open. We are currently taking six meetings per week into the Naples jail Project Recovery programs for both men and women, general population meetings for both men and women, and the women s cell dog program. One meeting a week is taken into the Department of Juvenile Justice. Anyone of the inmates can request AA literature. The Corrections Committee purchases literature for the inmates who request literature. Our Corrections elected positions for 2013 have been filled, and those elected for the service positions are as follows: Chairperson Polly W. Alt. Chair Matt Flynn Secretary Emilio R. Treasurer Mary B. Women s Coordinator Crystal E. Men s Coordinator George S. DJJ Coordinator Court G. Spanish Coordinator Andres M. Literature Chair Mike 2
The corrections committee continues to be self-supporting we receive no income from District 20, Area 15 or the General Service Office in New York. In order to raise money to purchase the literature we have one big picnic in late October or early November. The only other income we have is what groups donate to our committee. I d like to take the opportunity to recognize and thank those groups who donated to District 20 Corrections last month: Intergroup Piggy Bank 84.00 Tables of Naples 30.00 Brown Bag 15.50 New Dawn 200.00 The balance in the Corrections bank account is $3158.40. At our business meeting on Monday we approved a literature purchase for $2200.00. The chaplain at the Collier County Jail informed us that they need Big Books and 12 and 12s. Inmates have also requested the booklet Inmate to Inmate. Finally, if there were one thing that I really need for you to take back to your groups is this: We always seem to need female volunteers to carry the message inside the jail. I have brought with me blank background check applications for you to share with anyone in your group who would like to help. Please stress that we especially need women for off-season months, and if they get their applications in now, they will most likely be through with the background checks and orientations just in time for when the snowbird volunteers fly north. It is an honor to serve as the District 20 Corrections chairperson, and I am grateful for the opportunity. Polly Whiting Events: No Report Treatment Report : No report.
