Waterford High School FFA News January 2017 The FFA prepares students from all backgrounds for careers in science, agriculture, research, medicine, environmentalism, business and marketing while developing their leadership abilities and personal growth. What s been happening in WHS FFA? Fruit Sale: All fruit sale payments were collected in December and seller incentive checks (10% of your total sales, if you sold $200 worth or more) have been requested. Thank you to all members and families who helped us sell over $25,000 worth of fruit! After all expenses, our chapter s final profit from this fundraiser was $3,820.42. Adopt-a-Family: At our December meeting, we wrapped the gifts that had been purchased for our adopted family. The gifts were then delivered to St. Peter s Church to be given to the family. Along with the gifts, we presented the family with gift cards donated by the alumni. Thank you for helping to make the holidays merry for a family in need!

December Meeting: At the December meeting, we used leftover Baking Night supplies to decorate cookies, enjoyed hot cocoa, and played a fun candy cane game. We talked about upcoming events and began sign ups for speaking contests and CDE (judging) teams. Half-Time Conference: January 13-14, Justin Ehrhart (President) and Tony Henningfeld (Treasurer) represented our chapter at this state conference in Stevens Point. Halftime is presented to help chapters prepare for the second half of the school year. In workshops lead by the State FFA Officers, Tony and Justin interacted with members from across the state as they explored team building, leadership development and ideas for the final 5 months of our school year. Advisors attended informational meetings about upcoming speaking events, proposed changes to MAQA and more. As we geared up for the 2nd half, the focus of the conference was doing small acts, for a big impact!

If you have not received your T-shirt yet, please see one of the officers. (All dues must be paid.) Members are strongly encouraged to consider signing up for upcoming Speaking Contests and Judging Teams. Come to learn more about these great opportunities! We will be learning more about Parliamentary Procedure at this meeting. Come for a fun (food involved!) hands-on demonstration! 2. Go Tubing with Burlington FFA on January 26. Burlington FFA has invited us to go to The Rock Complex with them. They plan to be there for about 2 hours. Tubing costs $10/person. Listen to the announcements and watch your email for details! This is not a formal chapter event, so transportation and costs are your own responsibility. 3. Buy an FFA Sweatshirt to show your FFA pride! See the last page for details.
