JUNE 2017 We all know change is a natural part of life. At Pacifica Vacaville we are experiencing a number of changes. Last month Pacifica eliminated our management company and will now assume the management of what was and continues to be a Pacifica community. We are very excited about working directly with Pacifica! For more information about Pacifica Senior Living please go to www.pacificaseniorliving.com. I was raised in foster homes and married at sixteen. My birthday is the first day of June. When people think of historical blondes, I am the first name often recalled. I was married to Joe Di- Maggio for a short period of time. Women dress up as me for Halloween and people still want to be me. I was charismatic, photogenic, and beautiful. My beauty is one that will be talked about for years. Marie S. Martin S. Richard Phil Kathy W.

I have something I call my daily gratitude, where my eyes water with emotion from huge swells of joy and heart warming moments when I am with our residents, their families, and staff in activities. Building relationships with this wonderful community has dropped me right into the present moment, where I am truly alive and wrapped up in a life I know I will always treasure. Some of my favorite moments are dancing with our residents, watching them join our entertainers to sing. their favorite songs, when they smile as I walk in and say they have been waiting for me, seeing their art creations and how eager they are to gift it to family or a fellow resident, and so much more. It has been such an exciting journey for our whole community and I am excited for the direction we are going. We have had some great training with our Teepa Snow program and developed more personalized goals and interests for our residents. I have seen a lot of growth and laughter. Check out our calendar and come join us for our events!

Elephant Memory Two months ago I wore my brand new elephant pants. They are black with strong tan elephants marching across them. I came to your table and you smiled brightly, exclaiming how much you loved my pants because you adore elephants. We talked how elephants remember companions, even if they only spent a brief amount of time with them. A week later I wore my elephant pants again and came to hug you good morning. You were so excited and said, You wore your elephant pants again! You filled my heart with joy. I spend hours with you every week enjoying music, art, gardening, and learning about life from you. My name isn t a concern in our daily interactions, because like my pants that made an impression, you see my face and say, What will we do today? You have fun with me, feel safe with me and it is the greatest gift to share life with you. As time fades and I someday have children, I will show them beautiful things and tell them about the glories of life and how silver hair is a treasure. I ll pay forward the gift you have given me. That labels, and names don t define us. That the things unspoken between the heart are the fondest. And when I have finally earned my silver crown, I ll smile always. Thinking of your lovely face and our elephant memory.
