Another great Christmas Holiday Party! Here are the highlights of this year s event: There were 78 in attendance with 3 last minute cancellations. Everyone got their menu choices and checks in to us in record time and we thank you so much! This year we had a Christmas Party Committee of 10 people which made for an even more enjoyable event. Herb & Marilyn hosted a potluck meeting which was a lot of fun. After dinner one group put the final touches on the Snowman centerpieces while another group finished bagging up the peppermint bark favors, followed by a brief meeting to decide who was doing what the night of the party. A word about the Snowman centerpieces: Some years ago Steve & Alicia, who are world class garage sale shoppers, found some glass bowls, enough for the # of tables we usually need for our party. They gave them to Herb and Marilyn for use as possible future centerpieces. This year they finally made their debut, thanks to the creative genius of Committee Member Caryn Borba who took one look at the bowls and said hmmm, we could make them into snowmen! After a trip to Joanne s to purchase the black foam material to make the hats and Hobby Lobby to buy the paint for the faces, voila, adorable snowmen! Thank you Caryn! We love your creativity which was in full display this year at the Club s 50 th Anniversary Party in August. We decided to follow last year s idea to put out a Special Christmas Edition once again so we can all enjoy seeing the pictures from the party and maybe you will want to make copies of the pictures you like to share with families and friends. We also wish to recognize the efforts of Oakhurst Country Club for the outstanding job they did for our event this year, especially in the face of significant changes in their organization which occurred mid-year. Temporary employees were brought in to fill the vacancies of General Manager, Director of Membership Events, Director of Private Events (like our Christmas party), and even the Chef! Oakhurst CC will have new owners on January 1 st 2019. The employees who took over the positions that were vacated did an excellent job of fulfilling our every wish. The night of the party the acting General Manager and the Acting Food & Beverage Manager were overseeing our event to make sure we were happy. We appreciate your patience if your dinner was not perfectly prepared the way you wanted it to be. The Awards portion of the program went smoothly. Outgoing President Lynn Grady received the gift of her very own gavel from incoming President Bob Rigor. The 2018 Board was thanked and the 2019 Board was introduced. We wish Bob a fun, enjoyable year as our leader in 2019 with an emphasis on fun! Ron & Caryn Borba received the Outstanding Member Award! The 2018 Tour Leaders were recognized. Longevity Awards were presented by outgoing Past President Bob Estrella including 3 recipients who received beautiful 50 year awards created by Liz Rosenthal. We wish all of you a healthy, happy New Year! Looks like, may I have this next dance A big thank you to both of our photographers, Diane Bianchi, and Ron Borba!
