Ancient Order of Hibernians 151 Watertown Street PO Box 11 02471 RETURN SERVICE REQUESTED NOVEMBER 2012 NEWSLETTER!

Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 14 151 Watertown Street PO Box 11 02471 (617) 926-3315 Leo Falter lcfalter@hotmail.com NOVEMBER 2012 NEWSLETTER AOH President s Message It s hard to believe that it is November already and time to get ready for the Holidays. The first event we will have is our Turkey Shoot on Saturday Nov. 17 th.it is always a great time where you can get your food for Thanksgiving and have fun with your friends. If we jump ahead to December on the 9 th we will have our children Christmas party. I will put up a sign-up sheet at the club. Although these are our bigger events there are plenty more activities at the club. In addition to our meetings we have family supper on the first Thursday of the month, music in the lounge on Saturdays and back by popular demand tailgate parties on featured Sundays. So you have many choices to come down to support and enjoy your club. The Club Inc. has been sending out updates of what s going on at the club. This is a great way of getting the word out. So if you want an updated calendar of activities please send me your email. If you are getting a hardcopy of this bulletin thru the mail and you have a email please send your email address to lcfalter@hotmail.com Our biggest [sometimes only] fundraiser is underway again. The calendars are on sale. This is the most important way you can support the club. I can t stress enough how much we rely on the calendars for all our needs. Once again I am asking everyone to buy at least one if not more to make sure we have enough funds to do our charity work. Without the calendars there is no way we can support our charities or even attending conventions. One more piece of business. Someone borrowed tables from the club and did not bring them back. Please see that they get returned. If you want to borrow tables or chairs you must ask the building committee for permission. Do not take them without someone giving you permission. ~Leo (617) 926-3315 or lcfalter@hotmail.com 2

LAOH President s Message During our last meeting, we had discussed the election of officers that will take place at our November meeting. The current board members have served multiple terms and multiple roles. All positions are now open. If you are interested in taking on an office now is the time. If we do not fill the required positions we will be facing our divisional challenges around closure again. So we need new folks to step up to keep things running. Also please be sure to sign up your children and/or grandchildren for the annual Children s Christmas party on December 9 th. ~Maureen (508) 479-7604 or maureenrhenry@hotmail.com LAOH Dues: Thank you to members that have sent in their dues. If you have not sent in your dues yet, please do so immediately. Dues can be paid at the club or mailed to LAOH Division 14, P.O. Box 11, 02471-0011. AOH Notice: Dues are due January 1 st for the current year. Regular and Associates Members are $55.00 Senior Members are $30.00. You can mail your dues in to A.O.H. Div 14 c/o Dennis Murphy, P.O. Box 11, 02471 E-mail Addresses Needed From All Members We are trying to set up an e-mail distribution list to cut down the bulletin expenses. Please send your e-mail to aohdiv14pres@gmail.com. Some brothers and sisters are already receiving the bulletin via e-mail and they get this news so much faster than those receiving the postal mail. We have heard from so many of you that e-mail is such a great communication vehicle. We look forward to hearing from you soon. 3

UPDATES Tailgate Parties The tailgate parties have been a huge success so far! Lots of fun and great food. We are on hold right now waiting to see if the league will be changing any of the upcoming Patriots games to 4 o clock. There are no further tailgate parties as of now. We will keep you posted! Turkey Shoot: This year s Turkey Shoot is scheduled for November 17 th (from 6pm-11pm.) See the full details further in this bulletin. Family Supper: Please support the monthly family supper events. All contributions help support the AOH scholarship fund. Our next Family Supper is scheduled for December 6, 2012. Children s Christmas Party This year s party starts on Dec. 9 th. The Dance Force will come at 1:00p.m. and entertain the children until 3:00p.m. Then Santa will come right after. We need all children signed up by Nov. 23 rd. Santa s Chief Elf is very busy this year and has to go back at the North Pole on Dec.2 nd. The extra elves will not be on hand for the party this year if we have late additions. So we ask your help in this matter so we can have most of the gifts ready for the children. Come have your picture with Santa. All are welcome. Calendars Calendars are back! They are not just great for Christmas presents but for birthday presents or other celebration gifts. Calendars are only $50 each. You can buy them by mail or in the members lounge. See the order form included below for details. 4
