The AP 500 program includes a comprehensive Ayurveda education that focuses on Herbology, nutrition, daily routines, practices and preparations that maximize well-being. You will gain a clear understanding of the mind, thought processes and their relationship to physical health. Graduates are able to take the tools learned in the Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor program to better serve their practice, families and community at large. COURSE OUTLINE Sanskrit San 101 (20 Hrs) IAH 101 - Introduction to Ayurvedic Health - (100 hrs) The Ayurvedic Foundations course introduces students to the basic concepts of Ayurveda, including its philosophical origins, the five elements, three governing energies and twenty qualities that comprise all living things. Ayurvedic Foundations also provides an introduction to the three qualities of consciousness and their role in the process of creation. Introduction to Sanskrit. Sanskrit Glossary List Provided. Ayurvedic Nutrition (Ahara) Anut 101 ((30 Hrs) Astrology (20) Nutrition takes the information taught in the prior courses and begins the healing process with our food or nutrition. We are introduced to the unique concept of Agni, or the digestive fire, as well as the six tastes and their effect on the body. This class also provides students with the qualities, elements and energetic properties of over 150 fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, nuts, seeds, oils, animal products and sweeteners. Additionally, Nutrition discusses the importance of the five senses in the nutritional experience and describes over 35 well-loved Ayurvedic recipes with an interactive classroom cooking demonstration. Classes Start April. Jyotish takes a look at the individual as a unique cosmic participant. Several aspects of Ayurveda are represented in the eastern Astrological systems, including the role of the planet in our natal body constitution and astrological configurations that may be impacting our health. This class will help the student gain personal insight into their own potential health challenges as well as how to distinguish these by briefly reviewing someone s birth chart. PROGRAM BREAKDOWN The Ayurveda AP 500 program has an Intensive in July 2011, between July 15th and July 24th. The dates will be decided by March 2011. It is optional for Students to attend this intensive. There will be another Intensive in September 2011. Please let us know so we can book hotel rooms for those planning to fly in from out of town. Please note that the program breakdown can change. If you are planning to attend the intensive in July or September, then, the classroom time increases by 50 Hours and Distant Learning time reduces by 50 Hours. If a student decides to leave the AP 500 program, one month notice and one month fees is required. However, a student leave the program within 1 week of starting the program and recieve full refund. Between 1 week and 3 weeks, 50% refund shall be given. After 3 weeks, no refund is given. A student can freeze enrollment, or, decide to leave in the middle of the course, as long as proper notice of one month is given along with the fees. The student shall can restart the program anytime. Failure to do so will NOT result in any transcript, Mark sheet or any formal printed certificate. If a student is a no show for one month,or, fails to pay fees for more than two months, indulging in vindictive or unhealthy behaviour with other students, or the teachers - the school can cancel enrollment.
