the SAVE DATE 2018 Steps of Hope
Core Team Building Strategies 1. Select a name for your team! The catchier the better! 2. Set both a financial goal and a goal for the number of persons walking. We would hope that all teams raise a minimum of $2,000, which is easily done if everyone writes letters! If you want us to do the mailing for you just ASK! Last year, we made some eye-catching labels for teams that wanted our assistance in mailings. 3. Target folks for your team: Family, friends, extended family, co-workers, former co-workers, neighbors, church members, etc. 4. If you belong to a civic organization, ask them to join you as well. 5. Make sure everyone knows what NAMI does and why this walk is so important. 6. Keep accurate records of who all will be walking on your team, and make sure they have walker registration forms! 7. You can either collect the money from the walkers or turn it in as a team captain, or the individual walkers can do so. 8. Design and order team T-shirts for your team. 9. Keep in close contact with the NAMI office, and with your walkers. REMEMBER, the NAMI office staff is here to help you every step of the way! Please don t hesitate to call 239-260- 7300 for help or with questions!! 10. MOST IMPORTANT: HAVE FUN!
Team T-Shirts to make the Team More than any other factor, team t-shirts help build up a team prior to a Walk and unite a team the day of the Walk. Here are some key tips to keep in mind regarding team t-shirts... 1. They should be bright and colorful so the team wearing them STANDS OUT as much as possible on the day of the Walk. 2. The designs, logos, and slogans on them should be as creative and unique as possible, so they are a conversation piece both during and after the Walk. Team t-shirts are (in effect) walking billboards for your company, organization, or friends and family. 3. Good team t-shirt designs almost always include the team name and NAMI s name or logo. Please let us know if you would like us to send you our logo or more information!. 4. Team T-shirts are a very effective WALKER RECRUITMENT tool, if publicized and promoted by the team captain prior to the Walk. 5. THERE WILL BE A BEST TEAM T-SHIRT CONTEST WITH THE WINNER SELECTED AT THE WALK! 6. REMEMBER: Team T-shirts are paid for by the team so that EVERY DOLLAR raised in the Walk goes to support NAMI of Collier County and its programs!
Sample Letters SAMPLE LETTER 1 Dear Family, Friends, Walkers, and Donors, Can you believe that NAMI s 2018 Walk will be the 16th annual Walk February 17. This year, (team name) will be there again, and we are so looking forward to it!!! I hope you will join us as we continue to help those affected by mental illness through the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Collier County. This year, Registration starting at 8am, event begins at 8:30am and walk begins at 9:30am with Grand Marshal, and Ray (Boom Boom) Mancini, a world champion boxer and his biography The Good Son became best-seller: followed by music, fun, food and refreshments. You have been so supportive of (team name) in past years. Incredibly, we have raised over $X,XXX for this cause that is so dear to our hearts. All donations stay with NAMI. NAMI needs all of us to help them continue to serve more than 16,000 local community members free of charge. Funds are used to help those who need medication, a doctor s appointment, sometimes to keep their lights on, or even to stay in their home. NAMI also supports the Sarah Ann Center financially, which is the only safe haven for the thousands of visits the center receives each month. Open six days a week, the Center is a refuge for those with a mental illness like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety. It is a place for socialization, solace, and support. This year has been somewhat of a challenge for us, and we so appreciate our NAMI family. That is why we are asking you to join us again this year! NAMI needs YOU! If you cannot walk with (team name), we hope we can count on your donation.
