Sponsorship Opportunities Presented by Rich Products and Buffalo Bisons July 27 and 28, 2017
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care. The CF Foundation tirelessly pursues its mission by supporting scientific research, which is dedicated to the discovery and development of new therapies. In addition to scientific research, the CF Foundation funds and accredits a network of specialized treatment centers that provide state-of-the-art care for people with CF. By applying the same principles that a for-profit company follows efficiency, innovation, and a results-driven approach the CF Foundation is making a profound difference in the lives of those with CF. The Foundation is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau s Wise Giving Alliance, meeting all of its Standards for Charitable Accountability. We take great pride in being one of the most efficient and effective organizations of our kind, and are careful stewards of every dollar raised in support of our mission. Forbes has recognized the CF Foundation for its innovative approach to curing a disease. By offering milestone-driven research awards, the CF Foundation stimulates the development of new CF therapies that are having a profound impact on thousands of lives, young and old. The Foundation s business model has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health and by publications such as The New Y ork Times, The Wall Street Journal and Business Week. When the CF Foundation began, few children lived to attend elementary school. Thanks to the research and care supported by the CF Foundation, many people with CF are now living into their 30s, 40s and beyond. Although the outlook for a child born with CF has improved tremendously over the years, it is not good enough. Your support of the CF Foundation will ensure that the momentum in CF research continues. Working together, we can add tomorrows every day to the lives of all people with CF. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has unrestricted financial reserves of about 12 times its budgeted annual expenses, following a one-time royalty sale in 2014. These funds, along with the public s continuing support, are needed to help accelerate our efforts to pursue a lifelong cure for this fatal disease, develop lifesaving new therapies and help all people with CF live full, productive lives. To request a copy of our Strategic Plan, email info@cff.org or call 800 FIGHT-CF. WHAT IS CYSTIC FIBROSIS? CF is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of tens of thousands of young people. One in 31 Americans more than 10 million people is an unknowing, symptomless carrier of the defective CF gene. Each time two carries conceive, there is a 25 percent chance that they will have a child with CF.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is pleased to announce the 16th Annual Redbone @ Large Fishing Tournament, the Greater Niagara BassEye Celebrity Challenge. The BassEye Celebrity Challenge is the first of its kind, modeled after the growing success of the Redbone Celebrity Tournament founded in Florida in 1988. On Thursday, July 20, 2017, Anglers and Captains will meet in person at the Strategy Session at Pettibones Grille to go over their game plan on becoming the Grand Champion Angler. Anglers and Captains will learn about the tournament rules and receive their goody bags. On Thursday, July 27, 2017, the tournament will kick-off at the Atrium @ Rich s. The night will consist of a music, exquisite cuisine, a silent auction and a unique live auction. Come join us at the party of the summer to help us Catch a Cure! On Friday, July 28, 2017, there will be a cast off at the Safe Harbor Marina where anglers will fish for bass and walleye in hopes of becoming the Grand Champion Angler. Following a day of fishing there will be a Dockside Awards Ceremony for anglers, captains and guests. In 1988, CF parents Gary and Susan Ellis founded the Redbone Celebrity Tournament Series. That first year, guides, anglers and celebrities from film and sports teamed up on 33 boats to fish for REDfish and BONEfish for the all-release tournament. Consequently, from that event came the name "Redbone." (There actually is no such thing as a Redbone fish!) The goal of the Redbone Tournament is to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation generate money to help fund science to find a cure for CF. Important Note on Attendance at Foundation Events: To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation s attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to attend the indoor portion of a Foundation-sponsored event at a specific time. For the outdoor portion, the Foundation recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times. This is a non-smoking event.
