Please send reports to Piedmontasc@gmail.com prior to area service. If you are unable to send your report prior to Area Service (examples: H&I and the treasurers report), please send your report no later than 2 weeks prior to the next Area Service meeting so I am able to send out the minutes in a timely fashion. Regional Committee Member Report David H. Teddy A. and Regional Public Relations have done a great job of updating the regional phone list. We are still working on a solution the lookup radius issue for those areas that are more rural. The 198th CARNA RSC will be December 15, 2018 at UVA Hospital and I ll bring this up again as an area concern. VRCC Kermit O. We met last week at UVA hospital; Tee T., our alternate, and me. We still have no bid for next year. I have been tasked with asking our area to put out a call for individuals with experience that wish to hold positions on a regional member run AVCNA 38. This we be held at the DoubleTree hotel in VA beach in January 2019. If a member is willing to step up for program chair, they would put a sub-committee in our area to run said committee. The regional fellowship would then put on the event. It is against our by-laws to have board members hold positions on the host level due to conflict of interest. There was discussion about having elections Dec 10th or at this year s convention in Richmond. It looks like we will be having that vote at AVCNA this year. Presently, the VRCC chair is asking one more time if this area or any area in our region is willing to step up to put in a letter of intent to run 2019.

We have voted to approve using the DoubleTree in VA beach and have a contract that is ready to sign as we are down to the wire for a decent contract and to lock in dates. We are in contact with beach areas as we have no desire to step on toes The upcoming AVCNA to be held in Richmond Jan 11th through 13th, 2019 is coming together very well. Please note that the word has gone out that there are only about 20 rooms left at the Marriott downtown and they are going fast. You need to mention AVCNA to get the convention rate which is good up to four people in the room. I apologize for giving dates incorrectly on my last announcement note. H&I Ky L. Attendance 15 We had 4 or 5 new volunteers to be oriented, mainly for the Men s ACRJ. Men s ACRJ Brian s term is up he did a great job. Mike R. stepped up and was elected as the new ACRJ Men s Panel Leader. Mike will start planning the schedule for January and make sure the new volunteers attend orientation when it is announced. Women s ACRJ had 1 meeting cancelled due to lockdown and conducted the other. Patsy was elected to serve another one-year term as Panel Leader. New volunteers are needed. Meetings are currently held on the 1 st and 3 rd Mondays each month at 7pm but this conflicts often with holiday schedules. Patsy is working to change the meeting schedule to the 2 nd and 4 th Mondays. Wellness Recovery we are continuing to work toward getting regular meetings into the facility again. We currently have a Panel Leader and contact with the Facility. 5East Psychiatric Facility meetings continue but sometimes are difficult to conduct for lack of the 2 volunteers needed. Linda C served faithfully as Panel Leader but since her term was up, Melissa P was elected as the new Panel Leader. Fluvanna Correction Center for Women this meeting has been taken off the list due to lack of communication from the facility. Boxwood all meetings were conducted. Martha F. was elected as the new H&I Secretary as Ann Mason s term has ended. Literature Order was $49.90. Next Meeting is scheduled for 1/6 at 2:30 pm.

Special Events Report Jeff H. Sorry I am unable to attend today. I have some family things happening at home which do not allow me to be present. My vice chair Jake S. will be sitting in for me today. We met yesterday to start planning the holiday party and have come up with the date which will be Saturday December 29th from 5 pm to 9 pm. We have not confirmed our location yet but will by the end of this week and get it on the announcements. Our next planning meeting will be December 15th at 11:30 am at C-ville coffee. Anyone may join. Motion for event budget: $250.00 for food $100.00 decorations $30.00 donation to church $20.00 for flyers Total $400.00 Public Relations Report Brian K. The Public Relations subcommittee of the Piedmont Area of Narcotics Anonymous met on Sunday, December 2, at 1:30pm, at the Church of our Savior in Charlottesville. 1. Web site: Jason B reported the stats for our NA web site. For the week of 11/19/18-11/25/18, our site saw: 87 total visitors 52 new visitors (almost 60% of the total visitors) 143 pages viewed the average visitor spent about 4 minutes on the site - Also, Jason will change the listing for "Workin' the Steps" to "Working the Steps". - Finally, Jason has been in contact with NAWS webmaster to ensure that the NAWS mobile app includes the most up-to-date information about our meetings. There have been recent instances of newcomers using the NAWS mobile app and showing up for meetings that no longer exist. We will have more information as we hear back from NAWS.

2. Literature racks: - We are in need of volunteers to fill racks. Please see Dan C or Brian K if you are interested. - Additionally, we attempt to keep the following IPs on hand for our literature racks: "Welcome to NA" "Am I An Addict?" "What Is The NA Program?" "Who, What, How & Why" - Also, the Mohr Center is a new literature site. 3. Meetings list: - We discussed changing the "Meetings List" to acknowledge that the weekday 12:15pm New Life meeting is held near a child care facility. - We also suggested grammatical changes to the list. Ky L. will make the appropriate changes. 4. Our Program Coordinator Anthony M. contacted the Moore's Creek Center to offer an NA presentation, and they have not yet responded. 5. We discussed our budget. It was determined that the PRC is allotted the following: $85/month literature $250/quarter Meetings Lists $400/year additional expenses (e.g. literature racks, etc.) 6. Treasurer s Report Anthony M. Old Balance: $2,544.98 Total Donations: $738.00 Subtotal: $3,282.98 Deductions: Donation to Regional: Special Events disbursement: Halloween Party Reimbursements: Literature: Rent: $500.00 (check given to David H. to take to the December RCM meeting) $400.00 (check given to Jake S. - Vice Chair of S.E. for the Holiday Party) $58.21 (check to Jake S. for charges he incurred for the Halloween Party) $76.90 (check to Jim W. for charges he incurred for the Halloween Party) $431.48 for the previous month's literature order $30.00 to Church of Our Savior Total Deductions: $1,496.59 New Balance: $1,786.39 (Prudent reserve is $1,600.00) Note: It was the decision of the committee to make our donation to World in January 2019. The Piedmont Area is due to make a regional donation. Quarterly payments have been made in the past. Should the quarters be changed to start in December? If we bring it to the RSC this month, the payment would clear and make it so four quarterly payments were made in 2018. Ad-hoc Reports Draft was sent to the ad-hoc committee. Plan is to send each piece out to various subcommittees. Literature is no longer a sub-committee, it is part of the ASC officers. Treasures has changed quite a bit too. The proposed changes are an amalgamation of multiple areas. Getting a draft together that the ad-hoc committee likes and each current position leader. Lawrence suggested stating your qualifications with which some people disagreed. Ky is hopeful that this will be done by next month to look at in the February ASC meeting.
