lower extremity fixation system
fully disposable fixation system InstaFix in the open position Bi-cortical compression when staple is implanted The InstaFix system is a body temperature activated shape memory fixation system indicated for arthrodesis, osteotomies and skeletal fixation procedures. The use of Nitinol, a shape memory alloy, allows InstaFix to provide continious and active bi-cortical compression at the surgical site. sterile kits The InstaFix fixation system is packaged sterile with fully disposable instrumentation, reducing facility costs and time associated with pre and post-operative set management. The InstaFix portfolio includes sizes from 8x8mm to 30x to accommodate a wide range of procedures. 1 Prepare the surgical site and use the sizer kit to determine the appropriate size staple. Keep three millimeters from either side of the joint or osteotomy. Utilizing a drill guide, the osteotomy is first drilled distally. 2 Place a pin in the distal hole to maintain position and then drill the proximal hole. NOTE: Ø drill is marked with an 8mm depth indicator Ø & drills are marked with, 15mm and depth indicators. 3 Utilizing the preloaded implant delivery device, place the staple into the predrilled holes. 4 Lift the window on the implant delivery device and pivot away from the staple. 5 Seat the staple using either the distal end of the implant delivery device or manual pressure. 6 Repair is complete. The body s temperature (37 C) activates the staple arms and provides active and continuous compression. Additional staples may be used if necessary.
