Speaker Biographies Clare Morris Clare is Reader in Medical Education, at Queen Mary University London, as well as being External Examiner to the MA in Medical Education, University of Dundee and a Senior Tutor at the Institute for Continuing Education. Clare is an experienced medical educator and scholar with a keen interest in the ways in which learning is supported in clinical environments. She has a portfolio career that allows her to combine her love of teaching with ongoing research activity. Clare has twice been nominated for a National Teaching Excellence award (Higher Education Academy) in recognition of her student centred and innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment. Her mantra is offer something the textbooks can t and believes that students should always be working harder than the teacher! John Cullinane John Cullinane has been the Head of Case Progression, Fitness to Practise, at the General Dental Council since March 2016. He started his career in the Civil Service, working in the Immigration Service for 13 years in various roles before becoming an Inspector of Courts in 2005, looking at the service provided by the Courts in England and Wales and also leading a joint inspection programme for criminal justice local area boards. In his next role, John led a team investigating deaths in custodial environments as an Assistant Ombudsman for the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman. While there, John reviewed the investigation process leading to improvements in both timeliness and quality of investigation. Urshla Devalia Dr Urshla Devalia has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Consultant since 2014. She completed her senior registrar training at the Eastman Dental Hospital and at GOSH. Following this, Urshla worked as a Locum Consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital before taking up a substantive Consultant post at UCLH (Eastman Dental Hospital- EDH) Wednesday to Friday, and at GOSH on Mondays and Tuesdays. She is lead for Dental Trauma at EDH, and Safeguarding Lead for the dental and maxillofacial department at GOSH.
Helen Chapman Helen Chapman qualified in 1981 and worked for 20 years in the CDS and hospital service treating patients with profound learning disabilities. She has an MSc in dental public health and a formal training in CBT from the University of Derby. She is currently a Visiting Fellow in the School of Psychology, the University of Lincoln. With the winning of a Shirley Glasstone Hughes research award, her initial interest in dental phobia was converted to an interest in stress at work and decision making. Helen has articles and book chapters published in both her areas of interest. Hassan Khan Hassan has spent the best part of the last decade working with leaders and helping them successfully lead significant change and transformation efforts. His work has been focused on and around Leadership Development, and enabling companies to formulate and then accelerate the implementation of their most important strategies specifically facilitating the people change and transition of new organisational models, structures and culture into businesses. A qualified Lawyer, Hassan holds an Economics degree, a Law degree and a Master of Business Administration degree, and is a graduate and alumni of Harvard Business School. He is also a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
