Actions from the last meeting The previous minutes from the last steering group meeting were looked at.

4. Partnership Board Meeting in July 2018. July s Partnership Board meeting: The presentations that were held at the partnership board meeting were about: The Education, Health and Care Plan Transitions Preparing for Adulthood Catch up presentations were about: Update on the Training Event 2018. Update on the Passenger Transport Policy and Strategy We think it was a very good meeting because Russel was able to help during the meeting and read out the partnership board meeting rules. It was good having a roaming microphone that the speakers could use at the meeting. The room that the meeting was held was good and a lot of people attended the meeting. Education, Health and Care Plan: The presentation was good and it was good hearing that most people have a plan. The speakers from the Education, Health and Care presentation should speak to the Family Carer s Group to hear their views. It is a good idea for people to have a plan in place for when college has ended. People who chose to end their plan should still be checked after a year to see if they are still doing ok. The Education, Health and Care plan moves to a care and support plan when the person is in Transitions.

Transitions: The presentation was good and clear. Everyone was able to understand the presentation. The workers in Transitions need to support people in preparing them for employment instead of them attending day services. The Transitions team could employ self-advocates who can help them with the school reviews. We think that it was a bad meeting because Education, Health and Care Plan: Some of the self-advocates were getting upset when they were talking about their time at school. Some of the self-advocates got bullied when they were at school. Some teachers are not always trained with how to teach children who have a learning disability and know how to communicate with them. Transport: The presentation was too long for the catch up slot and it was not in easy read. There are no buses that run in Melton on a Sunday. Suggestions for future partnership board meetings: It was suggested that Transport could be one of the themes in next year s partnership board meetings. 5. Membership of board Updated members handbook is now on the Better Lives Website.

6. Planning the next Partnership Board meeting Thursday 1st November 2018 One of the main presentations will be locality groups telling the board what places are the best in their community and what places are not so good in their community. CERT team to support the localities with these presentations. The second main presentation will be about what work is the council doing in the different communities, what places are good in the community for someone with a learning disability to visit and adult learning information. Catch up slot will include Training Event feedback and Warm Homes presentation. January 2019 Partnership Board Meeting The steering group agreed that the January 2019 partnership board meeting will be about Employment and Feedback from the Training Event. Future themes for partnership board meetings Support that can be provided to elderly people who have a learning disability. 7. Locality and Sub Groups Charnwood and North West Leicestershire Locality Groups had a picnic in the park event. Melton completed some first aid training and will be having a cooking demonstration in August. The Family Carer s Group are still trying to use their equipment to enable other carers to hear the meeting s from their home computer. The Family Carer s Group are creating a document about Transitions.

8. Better Lives Website Communication page needs to be updated by Pauline Ndigirwa. 9. Admin Support No concerns were mentioned by the steering group about admin support. 10. 11. Training Event Training Event leaflet and booking form has now been emailed out. All the presentations for the workshops are coming together well. There will be 6 workshops that people will be able to attend at the Training Event.
