Dear Members, Hadley Mothers Club Page 2 of 6 Letter from the President Please pass this on to anyone you know who works at UMass we are on the 'list' for contributions. Thank you! K15205 is our COMEC code. It is this time of year to sign up for contributions! Due to a mix up with computer communications Girl Scout troop 11610 will provide child care in 2017-18, thanks! Special Town Meeting is 10/5 we will have a table set up with refreshments please bring some kind of treat or snack, thank you. Meeting starts at 7 pm at Hopkins, we will be ear marking the collection to a school in the Florida Keys that was recommended by Emma Dragon who was there doing relief efforts after the hurricane. She gave me all the information needed to send a donation directly to the school. Anne McKenzie sent me answers to the questions that members brought up regarding the Fields Program, we can go over them at the October meeting. I also indicated to Anne that the School Use Policy is still a 'bone of contention' with our members. She suggested that our members look at the policy and make recommendations that will go to their sub committee to consider changes. We can talk at our October meeting about if a few members want to do this task. Members want to look at different options for giving to the Goodwin Library project (all depending on 11/14 ballot vote). I brought information to the September meeting but no vote was taken. We hope in October that more members can see the information and we can discuss more. Some options discussed were spreading out donation over a few years to 'purchase' bigger ticket items. The membership committee announced October 12th the Paint and Sip event to be held at the Hadley Legion. We voted to charge each person $10 to reserve their spot. We will offer non members an option to use the $10 towards their dues and members will have their membership paid. There is a Sign Up Genius for members to bring appetizers. I would like to encourage each member to come and to invite someone. Thanks to Ellen and Abbey for doing this!!!! I have flyers, there is one attached to this newsletter please pass it on; at soccer games, dance, social events, churches.

Page 3 of 6 Hadley Mothers Club Continued: from the President The Holiday Fair is SOLD OUT!!! We are full, we do have space for non profits in the hallway. The sub committee will be meeting on 10/10. There is a Sign Up Genius that allows members to sign up for a 'job' before the fair; ie Entertainment; lining up dancers, singers for the day. We want this sign up so we can follow up with the member in charge to see how it is going, do they need help, etc. Thank you!! We amended that list, with Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th with specific times/jobs to work those days, soon. Specifically now our 'job' is to get shoppers there for our Vendors! You can help by giving out postcards (Denise will have at meeting) to anyone, sub committee and members should consider ad for newspaper, flyers (one attached) posted around town and your work place. We hope to have a refreshment table at ballot voting on 11/14 to pass out postcards to Hadley voters. The sub committee meeting summary: the gym is full, DDI is starting a wait list, we need some more members to help with entertainment and getting volunteers to help on 17th/18th of November (this is the 'job' list on the Sign up Genius), we need shoppers, Denise to ask about the side banners to purchase, Denise will appear on Mass Appeal on the 13th of November to press the fair (hopefully with DDI). Did you know that we have a committee to Hurricane Harvey donation voted on $300 to be donated to Students of Hadley: Helping students of Hurricane Harvey. Next meeting is October 18th at 6:30 at HES. Our organizing guru Kira will be there to help answer our questions, topic: Homemakers disaster preparedness. Her web site is: www.sensiblesort.com. If anyone asks about Hadley Mothers' Club be sure to send them to our great web site: www.hadleymothersclub.org! ~Denise devinehdly@charter.net or 413-695-0385
