Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to invite you to the XXIII NEDAI Annual Meeting V National Congress on Autoimmunity, to be held in the auditorium of the Champalimaud Foundation in the beautiful city of Lisbon. This year we dedicate our annual meeting to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, a multisystemic disease of unknown aetiology but with significant therapeutic advances. Keeping up to date with basic science and information technologies progress is a fast run for improved patient care and remains true for most immune mediated disorders. Personalised therapy is however still based on expert opinion. This meeting aims to bring together scientists and clinicians in order to share knowledge, unify concepts and set the stage for new partnerships and networking. We have some novelties that we hope you will appreciate such as the use of the language in prizes, bursary, poster and oral presentation submissions and presentations that will allow for full Faculty participation, international juries for the different awards and the publication of a dedicated abstract supplement. The Pre-Congress course is entirely dedicated to training for RIDAI, our national register. The Scientific Committee has steered our meeting arrangements and includes great names for Portuguese Fundamental and Clinical Immunology, namely António Coutinho, Nuno Riso, Carlos Vasconcelos, Luis Campos, José Delgado Alves, Lèlita Santos, Carlos Dias, João Correia Araújo and Jorge Crespo and the Opening Ceremony will grace us with the President for Health Quality for the Directorate General for Health, the President of the General Medical Council, the President of the Champalimaud Foundation, Professor António Coutinho and the Presidents of our Internal Medicine Society and NEDAI.
