Assessment Equality Impact Assessment Under the Equality Act 2010 we have a duty not to discriminate against people on the basis of their age, disability, gender, gender identity, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief and sexual orientation. This policy has been equality impact assessed and we believe that it is in line with the Equality Act 2010 as it is fair, it does not prioritise or disadvantage any 2 pupil and it helps to promote equality at this school.

1. The Mercia Coverage Commitment: All teachers are highly committed to teaching and supporting a mastery rich culture, that places knowledge at its heart. Mercia teachers will therefore deliver the statutory content of these subject areas through Mastery Time and the school will carefully monitor the delivery of this curriculum, to ensure pupils are knowledgeable about these significant mastery topics but also, we will ensure that government regulations are met. 2. Knowledge of at : Understanding of Christion and Islamic practices and beliefs Understanding and appreciation of religious life and beliefs- considering how beliefs influence choices and decisions Knowledge of Britain s multicultural history and understanding of British Values that underpin society and the school Historical understanding of peace and conflict- reflecting on the impact and changes that religion has on society Knowledge of crime and punishment and how that is managed in society Interest in exploring, improving understanding of and showing respect for different faiths and cultural diversity and the extent to which they understand, accept, respect and celebrate diversity, as shown by their tolerance and attitudes towards different religious, ethnic and socioeconomic groups in the local, national and global communities. This will be explicitly taught in lessons and through our enrichment programme but will also underpin our charity work and community work throughout the year Knowledge of Human rights and social justice- using examples from everyday life to discuss and reflect on Knowledge of Healthy Choices and how to care for one s self Understanding of relationships and informed choices Knowledge of British Law and rule, the expectations of society 3. Mastery Time and Wider Values (including SMSC values) Mastery Time will also involve the explicit teaching of knowledge lined to these key areas. These will be explicitly taught in Mastery Time and through the assembly and enrichment programme. All Mercia staff are aware of these areas of mastery and endeavour to include these and promote our high values and expectations every lesson. 4. Mastery Topics- linked to British Values, PSHE, Citizenship and RS Our mastery topics are selected to ensure that pupils are given extensive knowledge of these specified areas. Mercia Teachers are all mastery teachers and will endeavour to uphold both school and British values by teaching explicitly the knowledge required through each topic. Our coverage for Year 7 is listed below and will be reviewed at the end of the year toe stablish increased areas for coverage in Year 8 and beyond 3

Assessment of RE/SMSC/Citizenship Pupils will be baseline assessed at the start of the year- including a self assessment round which we can formulate an awareness of certainly the approach to PSHE thus far. Formal assessments will not always be appropriate, but Mastery Time will exploit the whole school approach of quizzing etc and pupils will be routinely tested on their understanding of key topics, including Christian/Islamic beliefs and practices, Relationships and FAMILY, Crime and punishment and Human Rights and Social Justice. These key areas are assessed as they cross over the breadth of the RE/SMSC/Citizenship content. These will be tested in Mastery Testing in line with end of year assessments. Additionally, pupils will be continually assessed against the Mercia Values of: Academia Brilliance Commitment Determination Excellence 5
