2016-2017 ANNUAL REPORT CONTACTS info@vilniussocialclub.lt +37067494128, +37067162014 www.vilniussocialclub.lt https://www.facebook.com/vilniussocialclub/

ABOUT Acting since 2013, Vilnius social club is an NGO seeking to reduce social exclusion and strengthen people-to-people links by providing social and educational services to children and youth. What were we about in 2016 and 2017? 'We are on a marathon': this is our feeling after Vilnius Social Club's fourth season. The last year was long and exhausting, but awarding, too. We kept offering free football training to children and youth and, importantly, we launched a new social outreach programme in Naujininkai neighborhood. Formerly having relied on volunteers, the team recruited three full/part-time staff members, including two social street workers and a project manager. The growth in capacities enabled us to enhance the quality of our day-to-day operations, organise an eight-hours-long football marathon and implement our first international youth exchange project. Our achievements and trust of people inspire us to move on with our heads up; kids and youngsters we work with keep us on track. OUR VALUES: Need-oriented approach. Aspiring to do things others are not up to. Observing the environment and people. Keeping asking ourselves if we are meeting the needs of our constituency. Respect. Respecting people's choices even if different from what we want. Accepting people just the way they are. Relationship. Trustful, straight-forward and open relations with people as a goal of each activity. We believe relationships heal, and we know they take time. This is why our activities are personal and long-term. Vocation. All members love what they do. We make sure to find the most comfortable role for everyone. Professionalism. We nurture the quality of our work and competences of our volunteers and staff. 2

FOOTBALL SCHOOL We established the football school of Vilnius Social Club in 2013. Seeing football as a tool of social work makes it different from ordinary sport clubs or study circles. Our football school is open to children and youngsters that face integration difficulties. We offer free opportunities to children and young people to grow as personalities and exercise regardless of their individual resources, social or economic status. Thanks to cooperation with Vilnius University and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, our attendees play indoor football regularly, once a week. Our training is two hours long, once per week. Based on attendees' needs, we split the training to four sessions: 1 ARRIVAL, INFORMAL COMMUNICATION 2 TASK 3 PLAYING FOOTBALL 4 REFLECTION Rather than on sport gains, we focus on strengthening their social skills, networking, respectful communication, and ability to manage their emotions and behavior. FOOTBALL SCHOOL 16 partners FOOTBALL SCHOOL 2016-2017 SEASON IV 60 attendees between 6-19 y.o., 100 trainings, 16 partners, 8 volunteer coaches. 5 care homes 6 social support units in municipal neighborhoods 1 youth center 4 day-centers We received the award of the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) in year's Mass Football Leaders nomination. Testimonials of partners: Vilnius Social Club gives an opportunity to play and to be a kid. When families face challenges, kids tend to forget the feeling of being a child. They need a game to switch their focus from their painful daily problems. The Club also gives them a friendly and inclusive relationship based on care and love. Social worker from a day center Our cooperation with Vilnius Social Club is good in quality and informal in style. Having cooperated for two years, we have never encountered some misunderstanding or embarrassing situation. Vilnius Social Club is a gift for children. By participating in training, they learn to be a part of a team, to achieve their goals and to reflect. Social worker from a day center 4
