The Delta Kappa Gamma Society Beta Beta Chapter Southern York County, Pennsylvania March, 2018 Volume 50 No. 4 President s Message It s almost spring! The winter has been colder than usual, but we did have some warm spells. The beautiful colors of daffodils, tulips, crocus, and the trees and shrubs leafing out will be a welcome sight-along with some allergy issues for some of us. Come out for a night of flower arranging from Rosemary and Rust Floral Shop at Friendship Elementary on Wednesday, March 14 at 6:00. We will learn some tricks of the trade! Friendship is along Route 216. As you go through Glen Rock on the way to Hanover, the school is on the left. Rules have the reflection which is Phyllis and Dale. Refreshments will be provided by Bonnie Thompson, Judy Alwine, Mary Tombesi, Emily Olenick, Deb Mitzel and Diana Ferandino. Please bring your paper products for the month you signed up for so Kathy can organize the State Convention basket. Our May meeting will be the deadline for bringing in the goodies. Thank you so very much for donating these items! Socks are still being collected, matched and donated to York Rescue Mission. Thank you for your contributions! See if your guess is correct for our March Secret Sister! Crystal

March s Secret Sister Our March Secret Sister hails from the Camp Hill area. Her family moved to a farm in New Oxford when she was a child and it was the BEST place to grow up! A 70 acre farm with a creek going though it was a marvelous place to explore! Her two brothers and she built dams, swam in the creek and played outside all day. Lunch was packed sometimes so time could be saved not going back home to eat inside! The neighborhood had mostly boys, and she kept right up with their adventures. She married her high school sweetheart from New Oxford High School. He graduated 2 years ahead of her, but waited for her to graduate from Millersville. They have been married 33 years already, after dating 7 years. They share in their three daughters and two grandchildren lives. They built a home near the farm where she grew up. She has been in education for 33 years teaching second, third and fourth grades before becoming an administrator (MA from Western MD-McDaniel). Third grade was her favorite! Second and third graders were so appreciative of everything and loved being taught hands-on. This young lady plans to retire this school year! She feels very blessed! Who is this Secret Sister? Come to the March meeting and see if your guess is correct! Dear Sisters, Your get well cards with the cheery handwritten notes put rays of sunshine into my dark, dreary days of recovery. Also thanks for the lovely Christmas cards, and phone calls were a real picker-upper! What a supporting group of sisters! I missed the Christmas party and several of the monthly luncheons which made me sad. I miss you all and hope to be out and about very soon. Your Beta Beta Sister, Ella Jane Hess
