Min 4 Max 30 10 Sessions HF1M - Tai Chi 32 Sword Form Debra Leonard, Cert. Instr. Monday 9:00 AM-9:50 AM Location: FLI Gym The use of the sword reflects the origins of Tai Chi s original martial arts training, yet it is a soft and gentle form. This class is for beginners or students looking to try a new way of expressing their Chi. It is taught as an exercise and not as martial art training. There is no sparring or dueling. You use the sword in slow and graceful movements, one flowing into the other to provide mental and physical relaxation. It is truly a beautiful and elegant form, well-loved all over the world. Students will need to acquire a wooden Tai Chi Sword or collapsible sword before classes begin; these can be found at many sites online. Price range is $9.99-$19.99. Schedule for all Tai Chi classes: Ten minute warm-ups; learn two movements each class; wear loose clothing and flat shoes.

HF2M - Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Deborah Leonard, Cert. Instr. Monday 10:00 AM-10:50 AM Location: FLI Gym Not all exercises are suitable for people with arthritis. An effective program should have low risk of injury and fulfill three objectives: increase flexibility, strengthen muscles, and improve cardio-respiratory fitness. Tai Chi can accomplish these. Created by Dr. Paul Lam in 1997, leading a team of medical experts and Tai Chi professionals to design the Tai Chi for Arthritis program, this program is based on the Sun 73 style Tai Chi Form. It has a unique Qigong (deep breathing exercise) component which has a powerful healing ability. It contains all the principals of Tai Chi and the movements are safe, modified for beginners and seniors. This form is taught in collaboration with the Arthritis Foundation of Indiana and Dr. Paul Lam. Schedule for all Tai Chi classes: Ten-minute warm-ups; learn two movements each class; wear loose clothing and flat shoes. HF7M - Tai Chi 73 Sun Form Debra Leonard, Cert.
