I didn t get a wink of sleep because I had too much coffee. How about you? I slept like a baby. Good for you. I think I should lay off caffeine for a while. That s a good idea. Welcome back! How was your flight? Not that good. I didn t get a wink of sleep on the entire flight. Ooh, that s bad. What happened? Well, the man beside me was snoring loudly. When he finally woke up, I got to take a short nap. But they started serving food, so it became noisy again. I m such a light sleeper that the slightest sound can wake me up. B. Complete the dialogue using your own answers. It is all right if student does not use any of the vocabulary words or expressions. What happened to you last night? You disappeared for quite a while. Sorry, I was really sleepy since I usually go to sleep at (student s answer: e.g. 8:00 PM, 10:00 PM) every night. I just went upstairs and took a nap. Oh, that explains it. It s a good thing you slept through all the noise downstairs. It was hard at first, but I just did what I always do before I go to bed. Exercise 5: Conversation Starter (10 minutes) Pick one of the four scenarios below, and start a conversation with your tutor. 次の 4 つのシナリオの中から好きなものを選んで 講師と会話をしてみましょう should be the one to start the conversation. If he/she is struggling, recommend how he/she can start. Do not provide the exact line, if possible. Some items require the student to defend an unusual stance on something. This is meant to test their persuasive skills. Ask follow-up questions that will encourage the student to keep talking. Share with your tutor your nightly routine before going to bed. あなたが寝る前に毎日必ずしていることを講師と話してみましょう Discuss with your tutor some of the possible reasons why people experience difficulty sleeping. 不眠症になる理由を考えて 講師と話してみましょう Let s say your tutor is having a tough time sleeping. Ask him/her what s causing it then suggest three ways for him/her to get better sleep. 講師は最近なかなか寝付けないようです 原因を聞いてみてください そしてよく眠れるようになる方法を 3 つ教えてあげてください Discuss with your tutor the disadvantages of not getting enough sleep. 睡眠を十分にとらないことで考えられる良くないことを講師と話し合ってみましょう If there is remaining time, ask the student to choose another scenario and start a conversation about it.
