TĂPĂLAGĂ 1, MARIOARA NICULA 1, D. DRONCA 1, C. BUZATU 2 1 Faculty of Animal Sciences and Biotechnologies, Timişoara, România, 2 Izvin Stud, Timiş district The purpose of this paper is to observe the development degree under the morphological aspect at Ardenez horses from Izvin Stud. For this we have observed 8 exterior indicators on horses starting from 0-6 months to adult ones.the research was made on strength of 49 horses Ardenez thoroughbred, where absolute growth and the growth coefficients of the main corporal dimensions were calculated for the actual young Ardenez horses, compared with the absolute growth and the growth coefficients of the main corporal dimensions for young Ardenez horses raised in 2002 at Izvin Stud.As a result of the research, we ve find that the growth of the main corporal dimensions on young horses is influenced by internal and external factors.from the internal factors, the precocity specific for the heavy thoroughbred, has influence upon the growth of the main corporal dimensions, thus at the age of 3, some of this dimensions stop their growth.a special influence upon the growth is exerted by the appearance of the sexual maturity, factor that makes corporal dimensions to vary between sexes, after the installation of the secondary sexual characters. Key words: Ardenez horses, absolute growth, growth coefficients, corporal sizes Introduction The purpose of the present paper, is to determine the morfoproductive type, the development degree under morphological aspect, and the productive features on Ardenez horse, on the base of the biometric measurements in report with the growth conditions from Izvin Stud. 392

To point out the morfoproductive features, the acclimatization degree of the thoroughbred in the conditions from Izvin Stud, the results obtained from the processing of the primary data, were compared with the results obtained similarly in the year 2002 on youth Ardenez male population grown in that period. Materials and Methods To establish the characteristics and the evolution of the main morphological features of the Ardenez horse, we considered 8 exterior indicators, following their dynamic on males starting with the age of 0-6 months to adult males. To conclude on the behavior of the thoroughbred, on the accommodation degree of this thoroughbred in the conditions from the vest side of our country, we ve studied the growth dynamic and the development of the Ardenez youth. The eight corporal measurements were made on 49 male Ardenez horses, from different age categories. On male youth, we ve measured on horses with ages of 0-6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years and adults (table 1). Table 1 Specification 6 months 1 year 2 years 3 years adults Ardenez 9 14 12 10 4 thoroughbred The absolute growth and the growth coefficients of the main corporal dimensions considered on male youth, grown presently, was calculated, and was compared with the absolute growth and the growth coefficients from the male youth from 2002. The calculation was made for the next age categories: - from 6 moths to 1 year; - from 1 year to 2 years; - from 2 years to 3 years; - over 3 years. Results and Discussion The obtained data were registered in table 2. For every corporal size the growth intensity is presented this way: The waist registers in the period 6 months-1 year a growth rate of 8,2 (the growth coefficient is 5,2%) on males on males grown in present and at the male youtk present in 2002, registered a growing rate of 8,1 (g.c. 5,3%). For the males between 1 year -2 years the waist growing rate was of 8,8 (g.c. 5,5%), compared with the horses that existed in 2002, were the growing rate was of 9,1 (g.c. 5,9%). 393

For the males between 2 to 3 years, it is registered a waist growing rate of 4,5 (g.c. 2,8%) for the existent horses and 4,3 (g.c. 2,8%) for the horses that existed in 2002. The age period of over 3 years is considered the period when the generation that was draw out from training and was passed into the base stud, as a public breeder stallion, and gets to the medium growth development of the thoroughbred. For the development of the height sizes on Ardenez thoroughbred, there are no remarkable aspects, that worth to be mentioned. The trunk length increases on actual Ardenez male youth for the age period of 6 months 1 year with 11,1 (g.c. 6,8%), compared with 11 (g.c. 7,8%) on males that existed in 2002. After the age of 3 years the trunk length of Ardenez stallions registres a growth of 10,7 (g.c. 6,6%), compared with those from 2002, that registered agrowth of 9,9 (g.c. 6,1%). The chest depth registers high growth rates in the age periods of 6 months 1 year, from 1 year to 2 years and over 3 years, when the values of this growing rates are higher than 5. The lowest growing rate is registered in tha age period from 2 to 3 years, when on males is registered the value of 1,7 (g.c. 2,4%), for the horses that exist in present and for those that existed in 2002. The growing rates on for the chest depth were approximately equal for the two effectives compared. The croup length like all length sizes has an increased development rhythm only after parturition, fact that explains the high growing rates of this size on Ardenez male youth in the first periods of life. On the period from 6 moths to 1 year, the croup length registers the higest growing rates, being of 7,5 (g.c. 12%) on Ardenez males, decreasing once with the age. The croup length on hips in the period from 6 months to 1 year, registers growing rates of 5,2 (g.c. 8,1%) on actual males compared with 4,8 (g.c. 9,4 %) on males from 2002. After the age of 3, the growing rate for croup length is accentuated, being of 8,2 (g.c. 12,8%) on actual males and of 7,4 (g.c 11,7%) on males from 2002. The chest perimeter for the period from 6 months to 1 year, the growing rates for this size were of 8 (g.c. 3,9%) on actual males, and the effectives from 2002 had registered higher growing rates, of 8,5 (g.c. 5%). For the period of 1 year to 2 years, for the actual youth, the chest perimeter increases the most, the growing rates being of 16 (g.c. 7,8%). The same happens for the period of over 3 years, were the growing rates for the chest perimeter of the actual males are higher than the ones registered on the effective growth in 2002 (11,1 for the actual males and 9,1 for the males from 2002). 394

Shinbone perimeter registers low growing rates in the periods from 6 months to 1 year, from 2 to 3 years, and over 3 years, with the intense growing being registered in the period from 1 year to 2 years. The highest growing rates are registered in period of age from 1 year to 2 years, with values of 3,6 (g.c. 13,6%) on actual males. For the male from 2002 were registered values of 3,4 (g.c. 13,9%). The body weight increases from 6 moths to 1 year with 106,8 kg (g.c 16,4%), at the actual males. After this age, the value of the growing rate for weight, decrease, being of 97 kg in the period of age from 1 to 2 years, and 52 kg for the period of age from 2 to 3 years (g.c 8%). Over the age of 3 the weight growing rate is increased again with 77,3 kg (g.c. 11,8%). Conclusions The increase of the main corporal sizes on young horses is influenced by the internal and the external factors. From the internal factors, the specific precocity of the heavy thoroughbreds, has a big influence upon the increase of the corporal sizes, and after the age of 3 most of this sizes finish their growth. A special influence upon the increase is given by the appearance of the sexual maturity, a factor that takes to differences between the values of the corporal sizes, after the installation of the secondary sexual characters. Another great influence is given by the environment conditions, in the growth and the development of the young animals. When this conditions are not good, it is registered a stagnation of the growth intensity. That s why it is necessary to assure all the conditions for the growing youth, to create the premises for obtaining good adults with a good body development and a good work capacity. References 1.
