This activity is intended for urologists, primary care physicians, and allied healthcare professionals responsible for overseeing the urologic health of their patients. ACTIVITY INFORMATION COURSE DESCRIPTION AND STATEMENT OF NEED The Urologic Cancer Update conference will educate community-based clinicians on best practices for multi-disciplinary management of urologic cancers. The course directors for this CME activity designed the conference to provide clinicians with the latest information regarding prostate, bladder and kidney cancers. The prostate cancer session will address screening strategies, discuss cancer prevention with nutrition and exercise and review approaches to minimizing treatment morbidity. Also covered are proton therapy, HIFU and other ablative therapies and general medical care for metastatic prostate cancer patients. Program content will also cover the management of postoperative complications with a focus on urinary complications and sexual function. The final What s New? session will provide updates to participants in both bladder and kidney cancer. An extended question and answer session during lunch will provide additional time for participants to interact with faculty and get further clarification of key points. COURSE OBJECTIVES Apply evidence-based medicine to improve the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of patients with urologic cancers Assess current and evolving practices in the treatment of kidney, bladder and prostate cancers to help define outcomes and treatment options for patients Integrate management strategies for reducing post-operative complications, including sexual function and urinary complications Counsel patients on the benefits of nutrition and exercise, and the roles they can play in cancer prevention and management ACCREDITATION Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT Cedars-Sinai Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. NURSES The California State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved by the ACCME for Category 1 credit as meeting the educational requirements for license renewal.
