WI ASABE SECTION NEWSLETTER February 2018 Page 3 of 7 Secretary s Report 06 February 2018 On October 4 th, 2017 the Wisconsin ASABE Section gathered at Maple Tree Supper Club in McFarland. The day was spent exploring World Dairy Expo before meeting at the supper club. The meeting began with a presentation from members of the UW- Madison Engineers Without Borders Uganda Project. The group discussed the work they have done in the past to drill a well in order to provide clean water to a primary school. Once they have water they can focus on providing food for the community. Dr. Rebecca Larson also gave a presentation about some of her work. She has worked to install small scale digesters to produce gas for cooking. More information on the Engineers Without Borders group can be found here: http://ewbuwmadison.weebly.com/uganda During the business meeting the UW-Madison Student Section, UW-Madison Tractor Team, and UW-River Falls Tractor Team made requests for funding from the Section. A short discussion resulted in the decision to have the officers discuss and motion for approval following the meeting. The UW-Madison Student Section and UW-River Falls Tractor Team were each awarded $500. The UW-Madison Tractor Team was not awarded any funds since no one was at the meeting to represent them. It was also approved to award EWB $200 for their Uganda project. It was also decided that the funding request process is to be improved. There was a small discussion pertaining to the necessity of a summer meeting. May is a better time since more students may be available. Please contact Andy with any ideas for summer meeting locations or agendas. Kindly Submitted, Nolan Lacy ASABE Wisconsin Section Secretary 2017-2018
