This year was a very busy year for our club performances and once again we have made very generous donations of $1000 to each of SIX charities: Shriner s Hospital for Children, Cardinal Glennon Hospital for Children, St Louis Children s Hospital (BJC) 100 Neediest Cases, The Salvation Army, and the Rock Church where our weekly practices are held. REMINDER: MEMBER DIRECTORY UPDATE: If you have changed your phone number or address please send me an email (helenallen@att.net) don t just tell me in passing and expect me to remember. The Gateway Harmonica Club Celebrates 30 Year Anniversary Did you happen to notice the slightly revised club logo in the masthead this issue? In an effort to recognize the achievement of surviving 30 years as a viable and very active club, the logo was modified to highlight this 30 th year. In reviewing Frank Davis A History of the Club produced last year, sometime in early 1987 the club had it s first meetings and officially filed for incorporation in Jefferson City in late 1987. (The Secretary of State shows a date of incorporation as 01/04/88.) As of July 1987 the club had about 30 members. We now have over 100 members! And, each of the 50 or so gigs each year has between 12 and 20 members participating. Also, we conduct many beginner classes at community colleges and other adult education venues. We have a visible presence at the SPAH annual conventions and have sponsored six conventions, with more in our future. With everybody s continued support and activity, the club should celebrate many more notable anniversaries.
