A review of today s current implant restorative materials. To evaluate aesthetic conditions that will lead to success or failure in the prosthetic outcome. To treatment plan for biological success by understanding the influence attached tissue has on long term outcome. To create treatment plans that are engineered for different qualities of bone and understand how bone grafting influences osseo-prosthomechanics. Review the rationale and scientific positions on splinted or non-splinted fixed and removable restorations. How to determine if your patient is at risk for future problems and how to discuss this with them BEFORE the treatment begins. Graftless Treatment Considerations: Short implants, narrow implants, zygoma, tilted implants... What works and what doesn t

Fixed Implant Prosthetics and Immediate Loading How to categorize the three types of fixed implant prostheses based on tissue volume loss and how it influences the design of a fixed prosthesis. A detailed understanding of the very different challenges in restoring the maxilla vs. the mandible with a fixed prosthesis and when a removable prosthesis is more appropriate. How to use a pre-operative template to determine if hard and soft tissue augmentation is necessary prior to implant placement to achieve the desired outcome. Screw-retained vs. Cement-retained fixed implant prostheses and when each is more appropriate. The use of CAD generated abutments: titanium or zirconia? How to incorporate CAD designed fixed prosthetic frameworks for precision fit. When connecting implants to teeth is clinically acceptable and what is the best method for long term success. To evaluate the crown-height space requirements for fixed prostheses PRIOR to an executed treatment plan. The management of the critical aesthetic zone and the 5 most important treatment considerations to ensure success. How to select restorative materials that will not disappoint in 3 years. A complete analysis of zirconia abutment and restoration materials. Develop an occlusal philosophy to manage the single tooth implant, quadrant, complete arch and double opposing complete arch fixed implant reconstruction. Delivery procedures including torque protocols and cement selection for screw-retained and cement retained restorations. A complete understanding of immediate loading of the single tooth to full arch reconstruction. Review of immediate loading concepts direct conversion prosthesis, indirect conversion prosthesis, CT generated guided retro-fit immediate load prosthesis. Review the current state of the art and science in-office scanning technology and laboratory scanning technology.

How to determine how many implants are necessary for an overdenture in the maxilla and mandible. To splint with a bar or not... that is the question. Understanding attachment selection and the difference between attachment and prosthesis movement. Designing simple mandibular overdentures to complex maxillary bar designs. A critical look at CAD designed and milled superstructure concepts vs. traditional wax and cast techniques. Understanding PASSIVITY and the Distortion Equation and how it influences The concept of final tooth approval in wax prior to superstructure design and how to communicate tooth positions to the lab BEFORE the superstructure is made. The selection of denture tooth materials... acrylic, composite, porcelain or custom gold occlusals. A complete understanding of overdenture occlusal philosophies balanced, lingualized, Neutro-Centric and custom functionally generated path concepts. A complete review of the abutment selection process. When is it okay to restore at the implant level and when are transmucosal abutments needed. A complete understanding of the space height requirements for different types of removable implant prostheses. An understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of open tray and closed tray impressions.

Maintenance, Complications and Special Topics To prescribe maintenance routines for patients. BUGS or BITE? How bacteria and occlusion influence implant health and how to treat them. How to ensure thread exposure is minimized during the life of the implant. To understand WHY implants fail and how to minimize issues in your practice. This course is designed for all RESTORATIVE DENTISTS AND SURGEONS wishing to increase their knowledge and ability to treatment plan and treat implant prosthodontics from the every day case to the most complex clinical situations. Dr. Howard Chasolen graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1991. He earned a specialty certificate in Prosthodontics and a fellowship certificate in Implant Prosthodontics from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine from 1991 to 1994. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He is a Past President of the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The Florida Prosthodontic Association and The Sarasota County Dental Association as well as being appointed to the faculty at the University of Florida in the Graduate Prosthodontic Residency Program. His practice is limited to Prosthodontics and is located in Sarasota, Florida. After practicing the specialty of Prosthodontics for over 20 years, I have treated the spectrum of implant prosthetic cases from the simple to the most complicated of clinical situations imaginable. The one thing that I know for certain is that successful implant outcomes are realized with mastery of the fundamentals. The IMPLANT PROSTHODONTIC FUNDAMENTALS. Implant Dentistry is a prosthetic discipline with a surgical component. Cases are often won or lost before the prosthesis is even delivered due to proper or inadequate treatment planning. In the next 2 days, I will give you every bit of information, wisdom, training, and experience that I possibly can to help you become successful in treating implant prosthetic cases. From the new patient evaluation to the treatment plan to the execution of treatment and its post operative management. I want to make it as simple as possible for you to avoid the pitfalls and experience the enjoyment of a thriving practice. I will cover treatment planning concepts that will make case design predictable and simple. Removable overdentures from simple Locator cases to complex maxillary bar designs. I will review fixed prosthetics and immediate loading of single units to full arch cases utilizing conventional techniques to CT generated and inspired prosthetics. I will discuss occlusion, parafunction, scan technology, materials, attachments, practice management and etiologies of failure. I will help you identify the high risk patient and the home run patient. In this program, participants will learn a step by step process to ensure success in diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment and management and the foundational principles necessary to treat today s implant patient. This is a PROSTHETIC PROGRAM.
