HOW TO BE A TOP FUNDRAISER AND/OR THE MOST SPIRITED! Top Fundraising Team! Top Fundraising Individual! Spirit Award! Answering TTP Foundation Prince George Dr. Toronto, ON M9A Y 6-79-656 Contact@AnsweringTTP.org Charitable Registration # 8600 80 RR000

Thank you for registering to participate in the INTERNATIONAL! As a member of the Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) community, you understand all too well how scary a TTP diagnosis can be for patients and their loved ones, how low TTP awareness is, how many questions are left in the wake of a diagnosis, and how important research is to help answer those questions! By participating in the and raising funds to help support TTP research, you will make an impact on the lives of those who have been affected by TTP. In fact, you are the key to the success for the Walk and helping the Answering TTP Foundation keep its commitment to continue funding meaningful international research to answer TTP! Finding answers for this complex and scary blood disorder is a top priority of the Foundation, but we need your help! As a participant, you have committed to help raise funds to support the Answering TTP Foundation in its commitment to funding international research, while also offering support programs and educational materials. To get things started, be sure to set up your personal or team fundraising page and set a fundraising goal! Aim high to reach your goals 00% because the TTP community is counting on you! This guide will help you with your fundraising leading up to, during, and after the Walk. The tips and tricks contained within this guide will also help you to attract lots of attention during your Walk. Awards will be given to the Top Fundraising Team (captain will claim the award), Top Fundraising Individual, and the most Spirited (eligibility requirements on page 9). REMEMBER: Every email you send, every social media post you make, every time you ask someone for a donation, you re making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by TTP! We thank you for your dedication and commitment! Sincerely, Marie Dimech - Chair

How can you be the Top Fundraising Individual or Team this year? Ask everyone you know! The most successful fundraisers are those who aren t afraid to ASK everyone they know for support. So tell everyone you know about your Walk, why you re walking, and why you need their support! Remember, no one can say yes unless you ask! Who to ask?. Parents. Sisters. Brothers. In-laws 5. Aunts & Uncles 6. Cousins 7. Children 8. Nieces & Nephews 9. Grandparents 0. Accountant. Attorney. Babysitter. Dentist. Physician 5. Nurse 6. Landlord 7. Manager 8. Co-workers 9. Pet Groomer & Vet 0. Dry-cleaner. Florist. Barber & Hairdresser. Supermarket. Local businesses 5. Local restaurants 6. Gym 7. Pharmacist 8. High school friends 9. College friends 0. Children s friends. Children s teachers. Neighbours. Parents friends. Siblings friends 5. Don t forget to make a donation yourself! How to ask? In Person Email Phone Letter Mail Facebook Twitter Other Social Media Accounts 5 EASY steps to an ASK! Identify the need you are trying to address: Example: With no known cure, TTP patients are still living in fear! Explain why it is important to you: Example: I/my loved one is a TTP patient. Everyday I/they struggle with the uncertainty of a future relapse. Only research will help that uncertainty. Share what you are doing about it: Example: I registered to walk in the and am raising funds to help find an answer for TTP! Make the ask to your donor specific: Example: Will you make a $50 donation in support of me and others affected by TTP? 5 Let your donor answer!

How do I write a fundraising letter? Now that you have set up your individual or team fundraising page, and you have identified possible donors within your network, it s time to get fundraising! There is still power in the written word, so here are a few detailed hints to get you started! Create a list Using our example list on page, create a list of EVERYONE you know and can approach for support. Don t assume anyone you know will not support you! Send each person on your list a letter or email and let them decide. Include a call to ACTION Don t just tell people what you are doing, ask them for help! Include your personal or team s fundraising goal in the text, and suggest giving levels. Do NOT diminish your request by adding I am sorry or I hope, be strong in your wording! Make it personal If you are sending through traditional mail, hand write the address on the envelope and hand sign the letter. For emails, don t send a mass email with everyone s address showing. It may take a little extra time, but personalizing your letters is key. Put your heart into it Let them know why you are fundraising. TTP is important to you, share why it is. Don t include too many facts and stats; instead include your personal experience. People will donate to you because they know you and want to support your efforts. Make it easy Include your personal fundraising page and encourage online donations. If mailing, include a copy of the offline donation form and a return envelope for them to send their donation to you, or to the Foundation. Set a deadline Deadlines motivate! We recommend that you set a deadline a week or two earlier than your Walk. This way you can assess your fundraising and revise your plan, if needed, before the actual event deadline. Send a reminder Keep a list of those who send in donations. Send a reminder to those that have not yet replied or donated. Include fundraising updates in your reminder. Be positive - fundraising is going great, but I still have a little further to go. Say thank you One of the most powerful things you can say to a donor is Thank you. If possible send a hand written note or personalized email acknowledging their contributions, no matter the amount. Include pictures and updates from the event!

Sample Fundraising Letter In case you need a little inspiration or help, here s a sample letter for you. Dear, I will be participating in the on Saturday, September 9, 05, in (your town/ city name). The purpose of the walk is to help Answering TTP Foundation raise funds for meaningful international TTP research, support programs and educational materials. As you already know, I / my loved one has battled TTP and (tell your / a loved one s story, try to keep it to - sentences). With no known cure for Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP), patients are living each day in fear of another relapse that could end in irreversible damage to the brain, heart and/or kidneys. Patients are still losing their battle with TTP because of a lack of awareness and understanding of this disorder. Moreover, treatment is tough. Research will ultimately help find a cure. In the shorter term, research can help to dramatically improve the current treatment regime. I/he/she remain puzzled as to why I/he/she was diagnosed with this rare blood disorder and I/he/she am/is concerned for the future that seems unknown and full of questions. Please help me support the Answering TTP Foundation and those affected by TTP by supporting my fundraising efforts. (Add information about how they can donate; such as, your fundraising page link) Everyone is welcome and encouraged to walk and fundraise with us - if you would like more information on the event or the Answering TTP Foundation, please visit AnsweringTTP.org. (Add a personal thank you quote or final thought) (Signature)

Social Media As we all know, Social Media sites are some of the most powerful tools that a fundraiser can use to reach potential donors! Throughout your fundraising campaign... With no known cure, TTP patients are still losing their lives to TTP & are fearful of relapses that could include life threatening complications! I am raising funds to help support meaningful international TTP research to change this! Visit my fundraising page (insert your fundraising page link here) to support my efforts. I am at (where are you in reaching your goal 5%, 50%...) of my fundraising goal, and only need $x more to reach it! Please help me to help improve the prognosis of all TTP patients by donating today! Visit my fundraising page (insert your fundraising page link here) to support my efforts. Just more weeks before the 05! Helpful Hints: Don t be afraid to post frequently! Remember how quickly posts get pushed down on news feeds because people are always posting! Making regular posts will help remind those who think I ll do it tomorrow to do it today! Always include a link to your fundraising page! Making it simple for people to donate to you will help ensure your success! Publicly thank your donors, so they know and feel appreciated!

Fundraising Ideas Fundraising can be a lot of fun, and there are lots of ways you can go that little extra mile and have a great time, all while raising more funds towards your goal! Put information on or near your donation jar telling people where the funds are going and ask them to dump in their spare change. You ll be surprised how quickly it will add up! BAKE SALE Bake up some delicious treats and hold a bake sale with the proceeds going towards your goal!
