Thank you to everyone who keeps our club and our fields going strong and looking sharp! Our club has great people who donate their time and their talents to make our club our facilities and our events GREAT! We have volunteers who cut the grass paint the buildings get the snacks pay the bills promote the races manage the website publish the news letter get everything ready for, and then work our big annual fund raiser The Auction. It s the people who volunteer their time and talents who make the greatest difference in our club and in life. It s nice being able to bring an RC Flying Machine to any of our fields and know that it is in good condition and ready for use. Our website is top notch our events are well planned and supported and volunteers make it all happen. If you haven t gotten involved in the day to day and month to month operation of our club, you should know we always have opportunities to do so, and would appreciate your time and talents too! The auction is just around the corner the Christmas party is even sooner, and we will still have grass to mow for some time this season. Add to those things like the flyers looking for help, coaching, or advice and we have things for everyone to get involved. So once again..thank You!! Gene

Another one hooked Submitted by Jim Sheils While on a trip to Simpsonville, SC in April 2009 visiting my daughter and her family, I had the opportunity to get my Grandson's, Cody Turner, age 9 1/2, and Austin Turner, Age 13, interested in flying RC. I bought a Horizon Hobby park flyer Cub for Cody and Austin and had a great time teaching them to fly it. They caught on quickly and gained interest in the hobby. This summer while visiting the Firetowers Flyers RC club in Piedmont, SC, Cody, being the only AMA member (his grandad signed him up) had the chance to fly a nitro powered model with the assistance of club President, Tim Murrell. Needless to say, he was thrilled with this opportunity. He continues to fly his Cub at the local soccer field which is close to his home in Simpsonville. Pictured from L to R are: Austin (Cody's brother), Tammy (mother),cody (holding radio), Ashley (step sister), and Steve Hoffman (step father). Andrew Hoffman, step brother not pictured. Cody is also very involved in the local soccer team in Simpsonville. Nitro Engine Tuning Tips Here is a handy reference for tuning your nitro engines. WRCC Meeting Minutes Page 4 WRCC Monthly Meeting August 27, 2009 Wichita Aviation Museum Meeting began at 7:00 Gene Morse called the meeting to order and thanked everyone for coming! Terry Powell sent a treasurer report with Terry Grimes. Minutes of the last meeting were reviewed. Visitors: Ron Jordan is a new member, recently moved to the area. Ken Hawkins is visiting, recently moved from Idaho. Reports: Calendar a couple new items have been added for Clearview Field. The e-flight has been scheduled for Dec 12-14 we will bring up having a club booth there again at the September meeting. Safety Dale discussed the importance of posting id on the frequency boards. Noticed a big problem at Beech Field recently. Please help members and visitors remember to do that! Newsletter need articles. Website nothing new. Chapin construction schedule is somewhat behind due to weather. Please see article in the August newsletter. Gene would appreciate some feedback on any changes that the club would like to make. Please remember that the city has not released the field to our use, and we need to be patient until it is released. Beech been mowing. Please remember the employee club has requested that we not park up on the grass. Please be respectful of their rules. Afton there is a puddle right inside the drive-way. Some rock is needed to fill holes in the road. Was suggested that we have a truck load of rock delivered and spread. Motion made and seconded to do roadwork of less than $100.00. Passed unanimously. Don Pemberton will coordinate. Repair was made to the black covering Don Pemberton will be reimbursed $29.98 for the materials. Thanks to the Tallman s for helping to do the mowing and trimming. Need to check on mower maintenance for a 100 hr. inspection. Gene and Terry G. will take that task and find out what maintenance is needed for all the club-owned mowers. Fall Jumbo Fly had an update from Bob Hernandez, but new date did not work. Will try to get a new update. Auction no date yet set for 2010 auction. All weekends in February are booked. First available are the 12 th and 13 th of March. Will look to see what is available. Another member will look into the use of the Cessna Activity Center. Please let Fred Harvey know if you have any other venue ideas. Fred announced we had a big donation that will give table 1 a good start!
