Mystic Carvers Club P. O. Box 71 Mystic, CT 06355 October 2018 The purpose of this organization is to: stimulate interest in carving as a hobby or a profession and as an art form. Our goal is to provide instruction in carving and to aid others in the practice of carving. The next carving session and regular meeting will be on October 28, 2018 at The Quianbaug Fire House 50 Old Stonington Rd. Stonington, CT. The Fire House will be open at 9:45 AM for anyone working on his or her project or wishing to carve along with the Project leader (see schedule). The club s show and tell table is set up each month so bring in your carvings to share with others. Check out our Web Site. @ www.mysticcarvers.com The last Mystic Club meeting was held on September 30, 2018. The meeting was called to order around 12:30 by Carol Roffey, club president. We had a low attendance. Meeting adjourned around 1 pm. Members, would you please bring some of your projects, for show and tell, that you did at the Retreat to share with our members. Project Leader s were Jack Costello and Mary Brown. Thanks for teaching a unique project.

Project leader for October will be Ned Wilson doing a Snowman Ornament. Just an early reminder to all our club members! It is time to start thinking about getting in your 2019 dues. Only $10 a year! What more can you get for your $10 than a year s membership in the best Wood Carving Club in the state??? CALENDAR OF EVENTS, 2018 October 5 th 8th The Mystic Carvers Club s Woodcarver s Retreat in New England was held at Camp Canonicus in Exeter RI. The event was full! Thank Goodness!!!!! Many new faces which were really nice! Our old friends from Canada returned. It was nice to see them all back again. We had a return of the knife sharpeners, Leon and Deloris Standish. This was their fourth year with us. Poor guy, because we didn t have a retreat last year, everyone saved up all there knives to be sharpened this year. Leon didn t stop sharpening from Friday night until Monday lunch time. His wife, Deloris, did give him his lunch and dinner breaks. Thank you guys so much for all the hard work you did. Our knives are all set for another year. He said to Dennis, Don t miss another year, Please!!!!! Everyone seemed to be pleased with the sleeping arrangements and I can testify that the food was wonderful and plenty. It looks like we will be returning there next year for another Retreat. YEAH!!! Thank you Carol and Dennis for ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL your hard work. It paid off.
