WOMEN S BOARD to the SUMMIT COUNTY JUVENILE COURT NEWSLETTER Membership Builds Tomorrow April 2016 GREETING FROM THE PRESIDENT I think the weather forgot to fool us on April 1 st and seems to be dragging it out just a wee bit too much. April has to be our board s busiest month. All those that attended Bunco will tell you what a fun evening we had. Thanks to the past Presidents for our snacks and for our member for hosting in her home. If you have never played Bunco; it s easy to learn and lots of fun to play. Sometimes you even play with a ghost. Thank you to all members who were able to attend the fundraiser meeting on such short notice. If you have any unsold raffle tickets PLEASE bring them to the general board meeting on the 20 th. All information for the luncheon booklet needs to be sent to the fundraising chair by the 25 th. That includes ads that you collect or names of people or businesses that donate. There is still time to get ads or donations or put together a basket. Make sure a list of all basket items is given to the fundraising chair. The fundraising chairs can also help you with ideas for the baskets. I will be working on a schedule for the day. We will need help signing people in, selling raffle tickets, helping at tables and checking people out. It always turns out to be such a perfect day for our board to all work together. It always makes me so proud to be a part of the board. T.J.Maxx will be supplying the clothes for our women, men and child models. Thanks to the graciousness of a past president, we will have the in-house raffle that day for a week s stay at her condo in Siesta Key, Florida. Don t forget to bring a lottery ticket for the popular lottery tree. I want to thank our court liason and the court for the wonderful lunch which was served to us at our March general meeting. It s a treasured day to come in, sit, relax and not have to prepare anything. All women love that. Hope to see you on the 20 th and on the 28 th. Thank you for all that you do. Once they sign up, I will let the ladies who have signed up for the same date know so that they can get in touch and plan accordingly. All of the students have been approved to participate, and the Detention side has a list of their names. The guidelines for Women s Board suggests that active members participate in at least two rewards parties each year, and since the end of the year is approaching, please take this time to see if you have met this criterion. Easter Baskets 120 Easter Baskets for the court youth were filled and delivered. Probably the youth have eaten the goodies by now. We had a lot of early volunteers show up to get the show on the road and we were done in record time. Then the volunteers stayed for the next meeting. 18 volunteers signed up to help and 22 attended. That is great! Also that means 22 volunteers times 4 hours each = 44 total volunteer hours for Easter baskets. The door prize was awarded. $98.00 was made on the extra candy and baskets to cut down on expenses. A big thank you for the Easter cards. They are an added touch to the baskets. We will be assembling silent auction baskets on Wednesday April 20 th at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room before our General Meeting.
