2017 Current Topics in Pediatrics Target audience Practicing pediatricians, family practice physicians, primary care providers, nurse practitioners, nurses and allied health care professionals. Desired outcomes Explain the effect of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) including the life-long impact on physical and psychological health. Recognize how strength-based resilience building can counteract ACEs. Demonstrate in-office tools that are currently being used to build resilience. Discuss contemporary trends in the treatment of warts, eczema, molluscum contagiosum, pigmented nevi and hemangiomas in children. Explain recent updates to pediatric seizure rescue medication regimes. Describe pediatric dermatology conditions that must be treated emergently, including skin manifestations of systemic disease. Recognize the five most common pediatric endocrinology diagnoses and their treatment. Present several ocular conditions with manifestations that pediatricians may encounter in the office setting, how to recognize them and current treatment considerations.
