Sponsorship Package 2 About Us (KD) is a community based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established to meet the needs of young Vietnamese American professionals and to address issues that affect their everyday lives. Even though KD is active in many different programs and activities, we emphasize specifically three particular objectives. The first is to develop programs that promote the preservation of Vietnamese culture for today s young Vietnamese Americans. Secondly, our aim is to encourage involvement in community projects that serve the Washington Metropolitan area. Sponsorship Package 4 Kết Đoàn Projects and Events KD has three major projects: Save a Child, Feed the Homeless and a merit scholarship; as well as four major events throughout the year: Lunar New Year festival, bowling tournament, summer camp, hike-athon and banquet. Tet - Lunar New Year Festival Kết Đoàn and Associate of Vietnamese American partnered up to organize the largest Lunar New Year Festival in Maryland. The event brought over 3,000 attendees and showcased over 70 businesses. We also had the privilege of hosting six elected officials who participated in our programs. We aired our event advertisement on local TV channel, radio and newspaper. Sponsor and partners are acknowledged on our program pamphlet and media broadcasts. Save a child Project 4 In January 2012, KD officially launched the Save a Child project. The purpose of this project is to provide financial support and education to impoverished children in Vietnam. Our objectives are to provide these children with an opportunity and a fighting chance to improve their future and become contributing members of society. Sponsorship Package 5 individual. To ensure the dedicated resources are effectively utilized, the Association will require bimonthly progress reports. The sponsorship can be renewed on a yearly basis which is dependent on the progress and need of the children. Our goal is to build a successful program that will generate more funding in hope of expanding our program to sponsor more children. KD is supporting fourteen children on an annual basis via two different organizations: Love Across the Ocean (LATO) and Catalyst Foundation. Sponsorship Package 6 Our summer camp is aimed to bring local leaders and high spirited volunteers in the area together for a weekend long of team building and leadership training activities. Sponsorship Package 7 In 2011, KD launched an annual hiking event to once again bring the community together. The fund raised during this event is used for two programs: Kết Đoàn Scholarship and Feed the Homeless. In this past year, we had over 100 hikers attending our event. Sponsorship Package 8 Feed the homeless In 2013, we held a total of six Feed the Homeless sessions at Franklin Park in Washington, DC. With the help of our volunteers, we prepared and purchased food and accepted donation from local restaurants to serve over 1,000 meals to the homeless in the past year. Sponsorship Package 9 Annual Banquet At our annual banquets, we showcase our achievements and recognize our sponsors and supporters in the past year. Each of our banquets has over 300 attendees, along with local media outlets supporting and broadcasting our banquet. Sponsors also get recognition and stage time at the event.
