SUMMARY Mission and vision of the operating grant holder EATG s mission is to achieve the fastest possible access to state of the art medical products, devices and diagnostic tests that prevent or treat HIV infection or improve the quality of life of people living with HIV, or who are at risk of HIV infection. In responding to HIV, EATG also considers diseases frequently seen as coinfection in people with HIV, as well as other health issues that increase the risk of HIV. EATG s primary geographic focus is the member states served by the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for Europe. However, EATG does consider opportunities to collaborate with and support similar efforts in other parts of the world. Strategic objectives and specific activities Overall Objective: Promote the availability and accessibility of HIV treatment and care and/or affordable cost of HIV treatment across Europe by increasing the capacity of EATG members to contribute to our core activities and to impact on policy at national level. Specific Objectives/ Expected Results: - Develop knowledge of 15-20 EATG members in Treatment Literacy - Develop knowledge and skills of up to 15-20 EATG members in Treatment Advocacy - Strengthen capacity and impact of EATG to reach out to people living with HIV and - Strengthen capacity and impact of other community organisations across Europe to reach out to people living with HIV and AIDS and impact on policy at national level - Develop strategies to have leverage at national level and regional level - Impact on national policy thus promoting Universal Access across Europe Specific activities: - Updating/redevelopment & translation of manual on Treatment Literacy - Updating/redevelopment & translation of manual on Treatment Advocacy - Delivery of 2 trainings on Treatment Literacy for 15-20 EATG members from across Eastern Europe, providing them with the information and concepts to understand the implications of different treatment options - Follow-up trained participants to develop a plan on how to share information and skills in their countries - Organisation of 2 trainings on Treatment Advocacy for 15-20 EATG members from across Eastern Europe, providing them with the knowledge and skills required to develop advocacy strategies at national level, tailored to their local needs. It will also allow for the exchange of information and expertise Page 3/14

- Follow-up trained participants to develop advocacy strategies for their countries - Communications Activities to internal and external audiences about project activities, achieved milestones and results Expected outcomes Developing the capacity of our newer members strengthens their policy input and work in capacity development and scientific portfolios of EATG. It also helps develop the capacities of the local community organisations they are associated with thus disseminating knowledge further and creating a diffusion effect. The long-term outcome is the advancement of the goal to achieve the Universal Access to prevention, treatment, care and support services, reduction in health inequalities and promotion of health at national level.
