Breaking News National Policy: The National Population Commission (NPopC) is planning for a new population policy for Nigeria. A retreat is organized by HPP/USAID for 15 th April 2013 to plan for review of NPPSD2004. The President of Nigeria will open the retreat; this will provide an opportunity to push family planning agenda Commodity Security: A fivefold increase in requests from Local Government Areas was observed in 2012, and a threefold increase in contraceptives was distributed to states in 2012.
Breaking News Contraceptives uptake: Nigeria saw an increase in CPR which rose from 9.7% (NDHS2008) to 14% (MICS2011) The Ministry of Health observed a decrease in stockouts, which fell from 44% in 2011 to 27% in 2012 New NDHS2013: National Population Commission has commenced activities for new NDHS2013; data may be out in July 2013
